Hi my name is Phillip, I live in Long Beach so I thought I would give a local DSL provider a try. Im glad I did. I currently have the 768/128 "bronze" package with GTE. The price is $17.95 from FWS + GTE = $49.99/mo The DSL modem was free (from GTE) with the deal and no network card was provided. The order of the DSL service went very smooth, and install process? WHAT install process? I was shocked to get the modem in the mail with instructions on "how to install your modem yourself" All I did was plug it into my phone line, call up FWS, get the numbers, plug um into my computer and I was UP and running. I was SHOCKED at how fast and easy it was. Infact I was pulling my hair out for not doing it sooner. I had NO idea my phone lines were already able to handle DSL service. I thought for sure some guy was going to have to come out to set it up. FWS offers a static IP. After the RWIN Tweek, I am topping out in the high 600's. (the tweek gave me about a 150 boost!) Their tech support is good, in that every single time I have called them, someone has answered the phone and answered my questions/problems. I have been hooked up for about a month now, and have never had a service interuption.

    *UPDATE* 8/23/00

Ordered another IP address, the cost is $2.00 and they had the numbers for me the same day. No down time, to date. (or email problems)

    *UPDATE* 10/30/00

Another 2 months. STILL NO down time to date. (or email problems) If you are in the Long Beach / Lakewood area, I HIGHLY recommend giving these guys a try!

    *UPDATE* 07/05/02

Just wanted to check in and say I am still with FWS, and they are still providing great service. (I have not had a need to call them in almost 2 years) and my dsl service has NEVER gone down to date. Im pretty happy. I would pay for more bandwidth, but I am on the very edge (last street in fact) of my C.O. location. I think that explains why I am only getting 600-630 down when Im suppose to be getting 768. Hey, It still works wonders.. and like I said.. I am happy!

I had Zyan and was very happy with them. Tried to migrate over to DSL.NET on Zyan's web site and thought I had until 6 weeks later when my line went dead. I called DSL.NET and they told me they had no record of my order and the only option they could offer me was a 608/128 at $139.00. I said "no thanks" and went shopping.

I found FWS after decided NOT to go with an ISP who used Covad. I loved their web site! Simple and to the point. Even so much as telling you to go buy a dsl modem on e-bay instead of from Verizon! I had 3 or 4 other Verizon ISP's tell me they couldn't give me DSL in my area so when FWS said they could I was very pleased!

I have a 768/128 connection now for about 2 weeks that has been working fine.

FWS is a small ISP so when you call customer service you get one of the owners! I got my DSL modem thru them and hooked it up on a Wed. Got lights and it looked good to go, but no connection. I called FWS that day and they sent me out a new modem which I got on Friday. I hooked up that one and the same thing. Nada. Called them again and this time they told me they would come out on Saturday to see what was wrong. I am not a DSL newbie, I'm a network admin so I know a little about how this stuff works so if I couldn't figure it out it had to be something weird. It turned out to be a mismatch in routing between Verizon and the configuration in the modem. Once that was corrected it worked and it's been working ever since.

I came to Westwood (UCLA, West Hollywood), LA for the summer desperately needing a decent internet connection to work from home. It was looking like I wouldn't be able to find any ISP that would provide service for just four months, but then I discovered Flexible Web Services. Not only were they willing to provide service, but at a very low cost: $60 installation fee (which I believe is mostly Verizon's charge), plus the cost of the modem (which you can order on Ebay for under $50), and $49.95 a month ($32.50 goes to Verizon, $17.45 to FWS) for 768k download and 128k upload ADSL with a static IP.

As if month-by-month billing and prices like that weren't enough, the service was impeccable. I have not had a single minute of downtime, the speeds (topping at 90KB/s download) are incredible, and every time I have called, a person has picked up the phone and talked to me immediately (they even called my back when they said they would).

This is truly wonderful service. I only wish I could bring FWS back to Chicago with me.

I'm not very good at setting up my PC and these guys came out and installed the network card and set everything up that I needed. All they charged me was for the network card. That's value!

I ordered everything through them. They've returned all my calls. They're small, so I've had to leave messages, but I think they've given me the most bang for my buck.

    ***HOT REVIEW***

I decided to change my DSL ISP to Flexible Web Services. Verizon did
exactly what I wanted. When I called FWS back, the person was "flexible,"
or better yet, unwelcomed. He seemed to not in a hurry to get me up and
running. He seemed to not know exactly how to setup the connection on
FWS's end. I have had the DSL connection for over siz month, and it is
still imperative that I get the connection up ASAP. I spoke with "Leonard."
The guy said he would call me back, but he did not. I had to call back
    again, and again.

Finally I went with another DSL ISP because FWS was not going
to work for me. When I called up to cancel my account, Leonard said,
"I'd be happy to cancel your account," and then hung up the phone. I
    think that unarguable defined FWS.

I have been debating going to a DSL for several months . I finally reached a
point where I could not take the interruptions in service and long waiting
periods on hold at tech support at the old ISP. I decided to get off the dime and
see what everyone was raving about with DSL. I was very concerned about
changing any profiles and setting on my computers that might interfere with
my connection to my server at work.Flexible Web Services (FWS) thoroughly explained the installation process and helped to put me at ease. I was not to thrilled
about the 2 week wait to get the modem.
Initially we had some trouble in getting the system up and running properly because of the complexity of my situation. I really have to give the guys at Flexible Web Services (FWS) a big hand for their prompt response and thoroughness of getting the job done. Eric their installer has spent quite a bit of time answering questions and
helping me with tweaking my system .These guys have gone above and beyond
their call of duty to ensure I am a happy DSL user . I would strongly
recommend a DSL and FWS to anyone who asks !

I had previously had a horrible GTE experience in November, when i signed up for DSL thru Earthlink. Since i am a current Earthlink customer (but not for long!) I thought it a great idea to use them (oh how wong I was!). Like everyone else, I was subjected to LONG hours on hold at both GTE and Earthlink, tortured with mixed messages and people skillfull at imparting absolutely NO information (do they go to school to learn how to be so useless?) I was scheduled three weeks later... then cancelled without my knowledge. GTE never told Earthlink that my area's COO did not yet function for DSL, even though Earthlink was promoting it. I finally gave up after an entire day of phone calls. I was glad I called however, as GTE had not bothered to let me know that they would not be coming out later that day.

Switch to late January. I called a local ISP, Flexible Web Services. I spoke to the owner, who says GTE isnt that backed up and he can get me an install date. He does AND he calls me back to tell me so! And he gets me one in the second half of the day as i requested. He tells me he doesn't really know Macs, but he is willing to work with me (pleasant change from the "Huh, you got a Mac? We dont want your business" attitude you often run into!)

This time, GTE arrived on time, and the installer was a pleasant guy who knew what he was doing. He did a little extra wiring for me to make things just a little easier to use (added an extra jack etc) and did not charge me for that. He took about an hour.

I then called FWS and we got the thing set up in less than 10 minutes. (If you are a Mac user, be prepared to be at least somewhat literate in TCP/IP). My speeds have been good with the exception of the time some other subscriber sent a bulk mail and bogged down their server. But a call to FWS fixed it quickly. They also do not require onerous contracts, which to me is a plus, especially after reading of others' terrible experiences with Flashcom, Earthlink, etc.

So Earthlink has lost a subscriber (their tech help line was getting *bad* anyways--a 30 minute hold was now commonplace. Earth to Earthlink... learn from AOL--bigger is NOT better!) because of their poor customer service. But I also believe in kudos where they are deserved--and FWS dserves one!
