I have 3m/640k speed. No problems. I always get same great speeds. My routing to servers is always efficient, and my latency pings are insanely stable.

I upgraded from the 1.5 speed.

I called visi and they took care of the order. I just had to talk to qwest to confirm.
I have it connected to my dlink gamers router dgl-4300.

The high upload is nice for when i upload maps and configs to my counter-strike source server ftp.

I highly recommend visi (vector Internet services)

Just recently moved back to the area, and called up frontier/visi/mediacom, compared prices and talked to freinds, When i grew up in the area we had frontier dsl it was always on but very slow speeds would ping well for games and would get decent download, but mostly it was slow, Mediacom I had for about 2 weeks and got rid of it they wehre quick to hook up, but speeds and constant dropping where big issues, So i moved back here this month got Visi took them a week to get it hooked up, the first few days where rough had constant dropping issues, found out that was on frontier though they where fixing there lines. Otherwise only complant, is that i got a speedstream modem, going to get diffrent one soon, Visi speeds are amazing im listed at 2meg/256k, static ip and all, at 19.95 a month, and 29.95 to frontier for use of there lines, downloads i usually blaze up to 3-5 megs easily anytime of the day, gaming i ping under 40 on most servers coastly servers around 50, Visi is amazing and a must have for anyone in the South Metro.

I think the service is way slower than cable. I'm not really happy with it. I've got a ton of upload but no download speed.

I use the Qwest 1.5Mbs up and ~900kbs down service with Visi as my ISP. I've used exclusively Visi for the last 4 years. The few times I've had down time, I've called them first because I know I'll get a knowledgeable tech support person and they will answer the phone quickly. I had one problem on my end implementing their instructions on a static IP change, but other that the other few DSL problems I've had were with Qwest.

Monthly ISP is $20 + $5 for a static IP, DSL service is $28.

Ordering process went smoothly for both.

I replaced the Actiontec 1524 that Qwest sent me with a Netgear D834G ADSL modem / router / wireless access point (which I've been very happy with).

I highly recommend Visi as an ISP.

I Have my DSL line through Qwest and my ISP is VISI. Not very impressed with Qwest/USWest. I originally had my DSL line and ISP through USWest and had a number of ISP-type issues. So, I switched to VISI and have never looked back. Plus, they are hands-down better on the Technical Support side than Qwest/USWest ever has been.

My primary complaint with VISI is in the "services" area. You only get two POP email accounts and a measly 5MB of web-hosting space. On the plus-side, DSL connections can be used for full Internet access and services including web site and server hosting using a Fixed IP address.

Now that Qwest and VISI offer the higher speed 1.5mbps/896kbps (download/upload), I should be happy for a long time.

I am an IT professional and have found I can really depend on VISI for my DSL services! I highly recommend VISI to anyone looking for quality DSL in the Twin Cities, MN.

I left Qwest/Visi last fall for faster speeds with Comcast. I had Comcast phone and Internet and they still insisted that I pay $62 for Internet. That was a boiling point for me.

I couldn't be happier that Qwest upgraded to 1.5/1.0! Once Qwest released the speed upgrade I called Qwest, had my phone switched back to them and then I was able to order my DSL line. It is supposed to be 5 business days. I ordered on Friday and Wed I tried for the heck of it and it worked!

I can see the response of pages pulling up faster than my Comcast cable. The upload at 1MB is awesome, I hosted 12 players on XBOX live Counter Strike last night and there were no complaints.

*****
I have been hosting 16 player games without problems!

******* update

I have since left Visi for IPHouse. Visi has had problems with USENET since Mike left for IPHouse. I'm very happy with my new home!

I had left Visi in April '03 for the temptation of faster speeds from Comcast. I'm now returning on Qwest's new Choice DSL Deluxe offering, and I couldn't be happier to be back.

Comcast is good for the line only (as long as it keeps working that is) any problems or network issues fall on deaf ears. It has been refreshing to get reacquainted with what an ISP should be. Not to mention no mystery usage caps involved.

Original Review:

I have 640/256 with a Static IP. Cost breaks down to $31.95 Qwest $24.95 Visi. Order/Install Process was smooth had configuration information well before my line was active. Service changes have also been addressed usually the same day.

Botton line they are a solid ISP regardless of the type of connection you choose. Others in the area are cheaper and cable might offer more speed in theory, but you get what you pay for. For me reliability and the knowledgeable staff are worth a little extra.

I've been a VISI customer for 8 years with dialup and DSL. Not once have I had an issue. I've moved two employers to VISI and again, never an issue. These people know what they're doing and get the job done right. I feel confident that if there ever was an issue, VISI would do everything in their power and beyond to make it right.

I have tried several local ISP's over the years, and Visi is clearly the best. I've used them for dial-up, ISDN and now DSL. Always reliable. They also maintain the best local Usenet news feed (which is important to me). I access them via their 1-800 dial-up number when I travel...and it's always solid. I have nothing but good things to say about Visi.

I switched from another local isp to VISI due to my old ISP having a terrible backbone. With visi I consistently achive 69KB/s downloads and 30KB/s uploads. Visi also specifically states that they allow servers on their DSL lines, as long as they are not commerial or business oriented. Their USENET server is terrific, very fast. I am one hop from it. I had to wait 7 days for qwest to change my isp connection, but once that was done I was able to log in immidiately.

All in all, I have nothing but praise.

Equipment was an Intel 2200, DMT, PPPoA connection. 640/256 service.

UPDATE: Qwest dropped the price from 32.95/month to 28.95 a month for the DSL line itself, so my total cost is now $50/month. Secondly, qwest did a FREE speed upgrade to stay competative with local cable internet. We now (for the same price) get up to 1500/1024 kbit. My line is fairly crappy quality, and I still get a 1536/960 train rate. Visi also went through with these new speeds with no charge and no hassle. All in al, I am still very happy with my service. Qwest has not been a problem to deal with, and visi has been very easy to contact when I have had any questions.
