good response to phone calls , if they are home. (They go home at night , like you and me) They just provide a connection. They now have equipment in Eugene. They do have some email and web stuff but I didn't care about that.
I picked them because of good rep and they would provide a bridge connection rather than just PPPOE. The DSL modem feeds a linux firewall box (iptables on Slack 11.0 2.6.17) with two ethernet cards which then feed a switch for the users in the house (10baseT)
The monthly cost is higher than some because I have a higher speed line with static IP. Qwest gets 28.00 of the 47.99.
I have used them for a number of years and will continue.
UPDATE 5APR07 Qwest has improved the local lines , or so it would seem. Lot of bucket trucks in March. UPDATE 11NOV08 Still going fine. no problems.

I ordered the naked DSL from Qwest, which they claim is 1.5M/896k. Had a headache trying to get service installed but I put that all on Qwest and not DSL Only. Somehow Qwest had my new address flagged as a problem address and would not place my order even with a credit card, this cost an extra week of delays which almost killed the deal for me. I had a couple of additional days of delay which were my fault, trying to use an old DSL "modem" that is not compatible with the upgraded service.
I've had the service for about a month now and absolutely no trouble. I prefer this service to my old Comcast, even though CC had a much faster download speed. The other very true comment that I saw is the newsgroups/usenet access, its absolutely terrible, but I can understand what a burden this type of service is to carry. I'll have to subscribe to a pay newsgroup service if I want to use the binary groups again.
Best part about the service from my perspective is that its been rock solid and the static IP, which I've never had before.
Monthly Bills: 29.70(Qwest)+17.99(DSL Only)

I have qwest DSL with DSL-Only as ISP. DSL-Only is very reliable. I have experienced no downtime. Tech support is good. Gave me a static IP. The only bad part is the limited newsgroups access. They don't have very good retention in the binary groups. Overall they are a great ISP to use if you live in or around Portland Oregon.

I recently started having problems with being unable to keep a signal between my house and the CO. They helped get Verizon to test the circuit and were able to diagnose the problem as the modem failing. This is my second modem (the old fujitsu frame relay circuit) in the 5 1/2 years I've had the service. They said I could get a speed upgrade for the same price I was paying by moving to the new ATM circuit. I said since I was down anyways and would have to order a new modem (if they even still have any of the old ones - same price also) I figured I would go with the new service. Total down time was about 2 weeks (1/2 that time due to my modem not working). Verizon even had the circuit working 1 day before they said they would. DSL-Only had my new IP/reconfigure modem to act only as a bridge and service running a few minutes after calling them when my modem arrived. Since then, I've been getting 1369/374 speeds out of the 1500/384 I'm supposed to be getting. Can't complain about that over the 661/114 speeds I was getting before with the 768/128 package.
Overall, I am very pleased with the service from DSL-Only. Any problems that I have had over the years (which are very few) have all been answered promptly with what was wrong and what was being done to resolve it and approximate time frame. Any down time due to maintenance has been relayed to me before they actually do it (other than emergency maintenance which can't be planned), and this has been very little and usually done at night so I don't even notice it.
----Previous review----
When I finally found out that I was able to get DSL I started looking for an ISP that would allow me to run my own server. DSL-Only is the one I found. Even though it took over a month to get the service installed, it wasn't due to DSL-Only. They were the reason it didn't take longer. GTE kept getting their records wrong since I have more than one line and only one of them qualified. After they got that all straightened out, it was only a week to get the installer out to my house to put the equipment in. It only took him about 45 minutes (he had to go back to the CO to switch some wires). DSL-Only did their setup in about 2 seconds. (OK, so it was more like 2 minutes since I had to give them some info). Anyways, since it was installed just under a week ago, I am quite pleased, only down time was due to unplugging the "modem" accidently. I'm getting transfer rates on average in the 300kpbs range and on a good day 600+bkps. This is on the GTE bronze plus package.

I have had DSL-Only for many years with the old QWets Cisco 675 and now that QWest is offering 1.5/896 for the same cost, I decided it was time to move up.
The QWest side of things was a real pain, as they couldn't do a quick swap over. They said about 7 days of down time and since I host my own email that wouldn't work. In the end I ended up setting up a new DSL line (which had to be on a different phone bill) and will just turn the other one off once I am all switched over.
Everything went great as soon as QWest completed their part, plugged in the Actiontec modem, flashed it up to the current firmware, and put it in transparent bridging mode. (I don't like that you can't check anything on the modem while it is in transparent mode, I want to get my hands on a Cisco 678..) Setup the static IP address on my PC, and off I went.. About 3x faster than my old 640/272 connection. I am seeing about 1266/842 through speed tests, and 163k downloading WinXP SP1 from Microsoft all during prime time. (Though ping times appear to be 10-20ms longer, close connections are 36 instead of 26 but that is probably due to how they get the faster speeds.)
The only thing I wish DSL Only would change is to drop the second IP charge by 50% down to $5.

Over all a very good ISP.....I have had Centurytel ADSL for about 2 years now and have been very pleased with it. The tech support can sometimes be a little off....I swear some of the people they hire for call centers are dumber than a box of rocks. The Enternet 300 software was fairly competent but I love RASPPPOE so I use it instead. During the time I've had ADSL though Centurytel I have only experienced 2 outages.....and my computer stays on 24X7

Its been almost 2 years with DSL Only now. I had DSL with another ISP originaly, and quit because billing issues. After 2 years, I can honestly say I would recomend DSL Only to anyone looking for an honest and reliable ISP. I had 1 brush with DSL Only, but it was purely my fault. My DSL line has been down maybe 30 minutes in the last 12 months. Ping times are always stable, and my downloads are always fast.
Its hard to beleive some people have negative experience with an ISP that has so many good reviews... the customers must be doing someting to receive bad service.

I have been reading quite a few bad reviews of DSL Only's service. Not only do I feel that these claims are harsh and unsubstantiated, but I heartily disagree. As a former Technical Support Rep, I think that Wonko's problem would have puzzled me a great deal and since it would have indeed looked like a DOS attack. I know I would have given the same response.
I have had DSL Only for as long as I've had DSL (many years now) and I have only been down once on DSL Only's end, and with both Jasmine's and Shawns (forgive me if I spell those wrong) help, service was restored quickly and painlessly. In fact, even in times when the problem wasn't in fact on the end of DSL-Only, their representatives helped me and helped the verizon agents.
My only "complaint" would date back to my installation, which was a very long time ago, but even then, that wasnt DSL Only's fault. Verizon put the DSL on the wrong line in our house, so we had no service when we were supposed to, but EVEN THEN, Jasmine talked to me in the midst of an office and phone system overhaul, AFTER the office closed to help me get online and figure out what was going on.
In fact, just today I called in to order service at my new apartment and was helped by a very nice young lady who was very friendly and polite and was a great help. These guys are a really great bargain, they offer great service, great speeds, unbeatable reliability, and frankly, to all the tech support whiners that posted, one simple rule would speed things a long a great bit, treat others the way you wanted to be treated. I would place a great deal of money on the customer being at fault for any bad relations with the tech support.

With DSL Only, I had good speed, no network dropouts, good access to mail/news/etc. Got a static IP, ran my own little server, and life was good. The US West line was terrible. I ran a new line from the NID DIRECTLY to the DSL modem (2 ft, just inside the premesis.) But I lost sync at least once a week for a few minutes at a time. This was just after US West started offering DSL, so it was 'rated' at 256/256, but US West didn't cap their lines, so I'd regularly get over 600kbps. I would ask US West to come fix the lines, but they'd just say that they didn't guarantee it would be up for any period of time. (How's that for good, no guarantee that it would EVER be up.) I lived in the Hawthorne/Belmont area of SE Portland.
But then I moved.
To GTE land! Mid-Eastern Hillsboro (Reedville area, near Century High School), here I come. Again, ordered DSL with DSL Only, again, good ordering, fast hookup (once the line was provisioned from GTE) and decent speed (768/128.) Again, no network outages, no mail/news/etc problems. This time, I was in a new part of town, with new lines, so the connection was rock solid (my server was up, with a constant, uninterrupted connection to the internet for over 3 months before I accidentally turned off the wrong breaker.) But, after about 6 months, GTE started billing me (on top of what I actually had) for an ISDN line! I called to say I hadn't ordered, and hadn't had installed, an ISDN line, and the first time they said they'd get it taken care of. After the second bill with it (I hadn't paid the ISDN charge) it said not only that I owed for ISDN for a second month, but that I was delinquent for the ISDN charge for the first month. Again I call, this time I'm told that I had ISDN, and had to pay for it. HUH? I only had one pair of copper coming to my house, and it contained an analog line and a DSL signal. I had no ISDN. During my dispute, another month passed, with another ISDN charge. At this point they said they were going to send me to collections for my delinquency. I just flat out refused to pay the charges, and they eventually shut off my entire service. (I had planned for it, and had been relying on my cell phone almost exclusively for a year anyway, so I didn't really miss losing the analog line.) I just ignored them, and two months later got a refund for overpayment, and a request that I reconnect my line. Fat chance.
I went without home phone or DSL service for 8 months before I moved again, and got out of GTE/Verizon territory.
So, I have to say that DSL Only was a good company, but I had constant problems with my telco.

I had a good install experience and my link has been reliable. I have had multiple problems with the DNS server and the news server being unavailable. The problems are usually resolved within a reasonable period of time, minutes or hours rather than days.
I am so glad to be away from Qwest/MSN for my ISP that I gladly tolerate the occasion glitch.
