Value for money:

Well, quite a story with my DSL saga. I was with my old ISP for over 10 years (OZ.net) and I had a great experience. Knew em by first name, they had a great Newspage with users working together...

Then they announced DSL availabilty about 2.5 years ago, and I was all over that. So I contacted them, and found out they had made their deals like this: In US West areas, you could just get a straight line deal. But, in areas covered by GTE, you had to use COVAD as a CLEC. But after about a year of fighting with Covad and GTE about why they couldn't use my existing lines and needed a new one pulled (at +400 bucks for re-trenching), I threw up my hands and bid found farewell to OZ...

A Co-worker recommended Blarg, and I did one phone call to them, one to GTE, the box with the Modem arrived 4 days later, I plugged it in, and -no kidding-the thing pinged itself, and I was up and running. 10 minutes tops! I have three boxes, a Win98 gamebox, a Linux Laptop and my kid has a MAC, all through a Linksys router, and we have never had an outage or loss of service. 24/7, always up.(Fingers Crossed).

Particulars- Dynamic IP, and I use www.tzo.com for DNS name service so I can reach my boxes from the outside world. No PPPoe, which a number of people who use the linksys router have suffered with, so glad I don't have that noise. I've got the Bronze Plus, so RADSL 768/128 and I usually get 690+/112+ when tested. The modem is the Fujitsu, and seems ok. I don't do a lot of huge uploads. Total cost is the ISP at 24.95(an extra mail box is $3 per month) and GTE gets 32.50 for the line. You can use GTE as the ISP for cheaper, but giving them more money sounds like as much fun as a root canal...I gladly give Blarg the dough rather then one more penny to GTE(Verizon, or whatever the hell they call themselves now.)

Tech Support...I've heard good, but since the service has been 24/7, I haven't made a call yet? So Bottom Line, Blarg-GTE-Bronze Plus...Probably not the cheapest, but the service has been top-flite, so I give it a thumbs up!
