I called Brand X and they returned my call almost instantly. They took my information and placed the order with Verizon and with 10 days or so I had my DSL modem and installation kit. Almost as soon as I plugged the modem in .. I was connected with a dynamic ip address. This was really handy and fast. I'm very happy and would highly recommend them.

I've been with BrandX now for several months (BronzePlus, 768k) and I just have to say that I've had nothing but good experiences with the service from first contact to installation to ongoing billing and service.
They are a smallish DSL provider, and that has turned out to be a real advantage in terms of quality of technical and customer service.
On the rare occasion I've had any issue or question, they have been consistently responsive and helpful. I don't have to wait on hold or wonder what's going on or any of the many other problems I keep reading about with other providers.
I heartily recommend BrandX DSL.

I had a 768/768 DSL line from Brand X installed in my home in Santa Monica a few weeks ago, and it is as fast as advertised. I'm paying a little more than the base DSL lines cost - but for this money, I am getting half a T1. I had no problem getting online. I already had a modem but Verizon sent me another one anyway. No matter, it was free anyway. I just plugged it in, and it worked. I think I will put the old modem up for sale on E-Bay. My line has been up about three weeks now. It's never been down, and it's super fast. These guys rock.

We used to have PacificNet/RelayPoint/Verizon. Enough said.
I called around and found BrandX. I was initially impressed with the fact that competent technical people answered the phone, that they were willing to treat me like an intelligent person, etc.
The long time from order to success has only to do with RelayPoint and Verizon problems; once that was cleared up, BrandX did a great job getting everything together quickly. I was able to continue to use my old (Speedport R12) DSL modem instead of having to pay Verizon for a new R14.
Summary: Static IP, 768/128, $67.50/mo., friendly to Linux/BSD/etc., great service.

I chose BrandX based on a friend's recommendation. I called them up and ordered the service. My biggest worry was dealing with GTE, since I've had nothing but trouble with GTE in the past. I was sold the minute they told me they would handle all interactions with GTE.
A few days later (literally) a box arrived in the mail from GTE. It contained filters to put on phones and the DSL modem. Since I have a good wiring setup at home I decided to split the line at the entrance point and use a single filter for all my phones. It took me less than an hour to implement this.
Next thing I knew I got email saying that the line was active but that my static IP addresses weren't turned on yet and I should use DHCP for initial testing. I turned things on and it worked right away. Sent email asking to have the IP addresses activated. This was done almost immediately and again it worked right away.
It's been over six months since I started with BrandX, and in that time I've only had one DSL line outage. It was fixed before I even managed to report it. There was also a router outage that lasted about 12 hours. I noticed it on a Saturday evening. When it wasn't fixed on Sunday morning I called to report it. I was immediately told that they were aware of the problem and were working on it. A couple of hours later the problem was fixed.
Lest people think I'm the sort to give praise where it isn't due, let me add that I also have Covad/Axcelerant/GTE DSL service. (This is a result of my employer requiring a separate DSL connection to be able to access the corporate network. Sigh.) My Covad/Axcelerant/GTE experience has been completely different from my BrandX experience: Nothing was done on time, the instructions given were anywhere from confusing to flat out wrong, and the resulting service has had several long service outages. At one point I even ended up on an hours-long conference call with GTE, Axcelerant, and Covad all pointing fingers at each other claiming the outage was someone else's fault. Grrr.

I made the jump to DSL with Brand X earlier this year. I started off with the 'Bronze' package at 256K/64K, which was fine. Installation was a breeze, since they detailed what was needed on their web site, which is basically to do nothing, but let DHCP do its thing. They handled the contact with GTE and informed me when the line would be installed. GTE actually showed when they said they would, hooked up the splitter outside, made sure I was wired right on the inside and a reboot later, I was up on Brand X. The price was $33 for GTE and $20 for Brand X, so I couldn't complain. And Brand X will let you pay for a full year at a time, giving you two months free. When the 'Bronze Plus' package came out (768/128), I jumped on it. Since the difference in price was the same as the $35 switchover, it was a wash. See, the Bronze Plus package dropped the prices to $32.50 and $16.50, for a total savings of $4 a month (Note the $70 ($35 for each) switchover charges).
Another review noted the transfer speed being a bit lacking. Mine was too, until I implemented the tweaks that are all over the net for DSL and Cable modems, and can be found on the left under 'Win Speed'. I now get upwards of 700Kb/s D/L speed.
The only downside to this company, is that they are small, which can tax their tech support. They do have a nifty call back setup so you don't wait on hold. They do send out e-mails warning of router changes and try to be upfront about planned outages, even giving alternative TV listings and events while the network is down .
Overall, I would rank this service very highly. They are friendly people and it works, so what else can you say.
The standard modem, which was provided by GTE during a special promo of $99 install is the Orkit, also labeled by Fujitsu. It works and looks nice sitting on my mid-tower.
Keith.

Well, I ordered DSL from this company since I am a college student attending UCLA I looked around and heard that Brandx was the best bang for your buck. I decided to get the 386k/386k package. I think it was around $65 total a month. So I ordered it, the installation was great I'd have to say. I got DSL installed within a week, and as soon as I called up Brandx to tell them that GTE had come by and installed the DSL line, brandx had emailed me back with all the info on the IP addresses, all this within an hour of installation. So I set it up and everything was fine. The great thing about brandx was that their prices had change from the time when I ordered to the time it was installed, so I decided to change the plan an go with the Bronze plus plan, with 8 ip addresses. They were cool about this and didn't even charge me for the change, I think their policy is to charge $35 but Darin said it was okay. The only problem I'd say that I had with this was that since I play alot of internet gemes, I need the ping to be really low and sometimes during the day it's not. But downloads are good, I can open up about 4 downloads at around 25-30kbps. And the prices that they have are awesome especially since I'm a college student. I think download times could be a bit better b/c though I did subscribe for 768k upload, it seems more like a 384k upload, but its satisfactory. But like I said if you are looking for a great deal and you need multiple IP addresses, this is the place to go. The net connection is about 98% efficient, its only gone down a few times and one of the times it was b/c they were putting in a new t3 line, which has helped the connection a great deal.
A satisfied customer
