At webperception they are abit over priced, the downtime is horrible, the mail is not much better, it seems that they schedule these "outages" or downtime at peak hours so when ever i want to use the internet it is dead. I don't know where to begin. Have you ever heard of an ISP that's closed during luunchtime? Yes, it's true. There's no one there from 12-1 and no one there on the weekends. They are continously down, especially late at night and on weekends when no one is available to help. If you "page" one of their "techs", they may call back and maybe not. They update their "Network Status" voice mail message when they feel like it. Sometimes it's 4 or 5 days old!! They have been down now for 3 days!!! When I called a few times to inquire about when they thought they would resolve the issue,(I had to leave a message, because of course no one is actually there to answer the phones), they actually called me back and scolded me for "bugging them"! When they are up , you will get nowhere near the connection speeds you are paying for.I think they are a small time rinky dink operation that's in way over their heads. HAve used the wireless service for over 8 months. Had some roughh days with bad equipment at their tower site. We run at 2.5 Mb down and 2Mb up. I VPN all over the world and need the speed to push some large files around and thi is the BEST game in town. If you want DSL in Novato, stay away from Web Perception. Not only are their speeds ridiculous (I'm paying for a guaranteed 760K/128K and getting somewhere between 192 to 260K/60 to 90K) they charge $60 a month. When asked why their costs are higher than others, they tell me it's because of their superior customer support. As long as you don't call their support line or complain when there's an outage, or ask why bandwidth is low, or why email time stamps are off, or discuss a technical issue with them (I'm in the business), you'll be fine. Bottom line, these people have no perception of customer support. The service gets worse and the speeds get slower. I am changing - can't wait for them to straighten out their act. Web Perception partners with Verizon (old GTE) to provide DSL service. This is a business "Bronze" level circuit. Ordered sevice on a Monday, GTE said it would take 10 days or so. The self install kit arrived on Friday. I installed it over the weekend and got a positive sync the following Monday. The only problem I encountered was that Web Perception had given me the wrong IP address. Their tech kept insisting I change Explorer setting when I kept saying "but I can't ping". Still it only took them twenty minutes or so to resolve the problem. Since then the service has been very good. Web Perception alerts us of any planned outage and always promptly resolves (and explains) unplanned ones. There have been about four outages in the last nine months. The only bad I can write is in one year service I have been down 3 times (not there fault, construction once, bad line outside Novato once, and my dsl modem once.) Hours on two of the days being down. And a day and a half on the modem going out (thanks g.t.e. for the quick repair) i highly recommend web perception to anyone who asks. to much good and not enough space to write it all. Especially over the other dsl options that are here. And the no cable modem choices. These guys have gone way out of the way to make me happy and I highly recommend them. I ordered the bronze GTE package. Then a week later when I called Web Perception regarding a bandwidth question, they informed me that my rate had just dropped twenty dollars from $55.00 to $35.00 a month. Then the guy explained to me that if I switched to the GTE Bronze+ I would get a faster connection and save more money. So I did. But it gets better.... I didn't even have to call GTE because Web Perception handled the whole transaction for me by emailing some inside connection they had within GTE while C.C.ing me on all communications.
