If your Internet service goes down and can't send out e-mail, what do you do when the ISP has no phone number to call? I have the GTE DSL service and used GTE internetworking as the ISP. GTE internetworking is horrible.

Carlos at Intnet.net was very helpful and has contacts at GTE (the DSL side not the ISP people) that can get things done quickly and correctly. I primarily use the DSL for VPN to work and I have no need of a static IP but the above price includes a static IP. I have the GTE Bronze Plus plan which allows 768/128 up/down speeds. The speeds I receive are quite close to those except at peak times such as 5 p.m. East Coast time when I get 500/100 ish speed tests. There was a bandwidth issue the first few days but it seems to be corrected. The technical support staff is knowledgeable. They are very accessible and ever provided me a tour of their facilities. They have adequate redundancy, which is a major plus. Several ISPs that I have used previously have had none. They host and co-locate for some of the major players in the area including a local electric utility.

To sum it up: Competent, helpful staff, intelligent, no run around when you need to call, no extended hold times. They respond to e-mail the same day.

Infinitely better than GTEi The price above reflects a discount for paying for six months in advance.

Update after more that 18 months of service: Remarkable service still, they use no Windows machines so I have never experienced a mail outage. They now have a web mail client in case you are not at your box and you wish to check your mail. In the last 18 months the aggregate down time is less than two hours ( total down time over 18 months !) Simply amazing that I put up with garbage before.
