Well it's been over two months so far and I'll have to report everything is A Okay . I'm signed up with Mikrotec's ADSL who I think leases the service from Bell South . A recommendation from a local computer shop owner got me to sign up on ADSL ( good bye 56k ! ) and he even got me hooked up with two computers via a router with a Static IP and even relocated my phone jacks for a very nominal fee ( Thanks Jackie ).

Mikrotec's support is very encouraging so far in these days of " Sign 'em up , Grab their money and Leave the costumer on their own " policies of some of the local ISP's I have experienced . In fact even after the local computer man had me online already and going good I received a total of three phone calls from Mikrotec on the first two days concerning about my service ! They wanted to make sure I was satisfied and even helped me signed up me E Mail account . On average I been experiencing from 500k and sometimes up to 1200k ( using one of them Check Your Connection Speed's tests ) which is pretty much in the mid range to the advertised speeds of 256kk to 1.5m . The $49.95 a month payment is a bit steep but I was paying for a separate phone line for my dail up account so I came out almost even , but come to to think about it I'm ahead with no more busy signals and not having to monitor long, long , long download times only to be disconnected at the very end .

All in all I think with Bell South's ADSL lines and Mikrotec's support , my money was well spent .

Mikrotec cost me 50 bucks and I never got anything

I signed up for ADSL with Mikrotec and waited for them to send my modem, etc. After a few days I emailed and they said they were just waiting for Alltel to process the order. After 9 or 10 days, I email again saying they have 48 hours to connect me or I cancel. Once again "we're just waiting for Alltel." After that I decided I was done with all the B.S. and cancelled. Then I get a phone call saying I would be charged 50 bucks to disconnect the supposed "circuit that Alltel built for my line". So now I'm going to have to pay 50 bucks to disconnect this circuit that was never connected to begin with. I'm moving on to InsightBB.
