2 weeks from ordering to set-up. Personalized emails answered all my questions before I even placed an order, pro-active customer service contacted me after I received hardware to see if I had any problems installing. Speed tests showing about 700k down, which is in-line with Verizon's limitation to 608k in NJ.

Why can't anyone make any money in broadband except the big old phone companies?

Navpoint is no longer reselling Covad connections because Covad is raising the rates on residential accounts. Navpoint's new offerings are based on Verizon DSL, but allow you to keep Navpoint's tech support, web servers, and e-mail accounts -- all at prices slightly lower than Verizon's direct prices.

I was asked to pay the cost of a line switch, since Navpoint makes so little from reselling Verizon's lines. I don't much care for doing business with Big Brother, but there's little point in hiring a middleman when I can just sign up directly with Verizon. I suppose we both benefit, since I am no longer under the terms of the original contract term. I'm free to go, and it's more profitable for Navpoint if I do.

I'll be joining the masses at Verizon shortly, wish me luck. So long, Navpoint. :-/
    -----------
My old review from when Covad was their CLEC:
POPmail is reliable, and there's a webmail option as well for alternative access. Unfortunately, the NNTP service they use doesn't have the depth of groups that I would like. I might want to supplement Navpoint's newservers, but it would be best if they had everything. :-(

My static IP address is working well, and Navpoint's staff has always been friendly and available as advertised. It would be nice to have round-the-clock support, but residential DSL troubles can wait until the next morning. Everyone I've dealt with at Navpoint has been professional and knowledgable. No "script readers" here.

DSLReports.com speed testing marks me at a medium speed line, the better part of the 608/128 promised, with better than average ping times. At $60 a month plus the potential for long-distance charges for tech support, it costs a little more than Earthlink or Verizon, but the static address and smart tech support crew makes it worth it for me.

    Thanks Navpoint!

Oct 26th - fax over order for Res. ADSL 1.5/128 with request for confirmation of order acceptance.
Nov 2nd - still no order confirmation. Call and talk to sales and am told that Covad has not provided them an order #, but I'm "one of the first in line"
Nov 8th - request order update via e-mail. No response
Nov 14th - request order update via e-mail. Still no response. Are they dead?
Nov 20th - request order update via e-mail. Almost 4 weeks now with no response. Got a response - probably because I told them I would assume they cancelled the order if I didn't get a response. Response was "Covad changed the order form for resellers so we needed to change ours. I sent one 2 days ago - didn't you get it? I'll send one first thing tomorrow morning."
Nov 21st - no form yet. Sent reminder e-mail
Nov 26th - still no form. Sent yet another reminder e-mail.
    Let's see what happens tomorrow.

This was a circuit switch from a defunct ISP. I knew my Covad order # but not my circuit number. The folks at Navpoint got me that and assisted getting a release from my old ISPs upstream provider, and they hadn't even got an order from me yet!

Fortunately my local loop had stayed up, so switching over wasn't a problem. I used my existing equipment, so there was no installation charge. I didn't have to deal with Verizon either

The icing on the cake is the availability of static IPs (plural) - 1 is included. I signed up for an extra one - much more flexibility for network configs without being wasteful, important for a networking guy like me. As to the tech support, well I can fix most things myself, unless its a problem outside of my control. I need someone at the other end of the phone who can deal with me at the technical level. I don't need someone who reads from the script, particularly since I probably wrote the script in the first place.

Navpoint fits the bill for me. I'll deal with having to call the next day for support if necessary (although I did call out of hours once and there was someone there to answer the phone)

Now if Covad can just stay alive...

These guys are great... VERY few problems and the few minor problems that I did have, they were taken care of right away.... I've emailed tech support after hours and have received responses within an hour or so (thinking I would get an answer the next day)... Even when he is off work and at home he is "on the job"... Thanks STEVE!!! Your organization has been great to me... Thanks again....

There just simply aren't enough positive words to express how great it is to deal with a company that both truly cares about their customer AND is able to completely satisfy their technical needs. If it weren't for Verizon's speed (slow or stop), we would have been up and running in days (or less)! The speed and reliability are top notch, and if there is ANY problem or concern, even when it's not their doing, they've been only too eager to help. A true customer-oriented operation.

We ordered Navpoint SDSL 192/192 service as the internet connection for our
small branch office in Washington DC. Navpoint was extremely professional,
gave good advice, and has provided us with exactly what we needed. The
waiting period was painful for me, since we were under a deadline, but
Navpoint kept me in the loop and managed to remain courteous in spite of my
mounting hysteria. The Verizon part of the line installation was not very
impressive; they had to schedule a second visit to get it right. The Covad
tech was great, and the connection is now fast and reliable. I recommend
    Navpoint highly.

My Navpoint DSL has been a life saver for me. before i had DSL installed it was a struggle for me to do anything online.
I remotely manage several servers for a mid size west coast company, until now it was very difficult to do anything without it
taking forever and a day. With Navpoints static IPs (i have 3), and the fact that my service has never been down, i feel
very secure in using my DSL for internet backups of the remote servers. I also run secondary email, DNS and web servers,
all from my DSL. The Static IPs have made all this and the VPN setup a tremendous success. My thanks go out to everyone
at Navpoint for all thier help and knowledge.
    Sincerely,
    Edward Stricker

-- i recently upgraded my service to 1500/384 and i am amazed at the speed.
here are the results of one of my speed tests.

Your download speed : 1228984 bps, or 1228 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 150 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 325203 bps, or 325 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Well worth a cost slightly higher than the big boys (VerizonDSL et al). You get what you pay for. Covad installation was quick and flawless. Service is excellent. Connection has been reliable; no outages or interruptions. A DSL router with NAT makes it possible to share the connection securely across my LAN. A fixed IP address will make it possible to set up a small server locally in the future. When you call Navpoint, you talk to a real person with technical know-how: Quite a refreshing change from my experience with a previous DSL provider which involved periodic outages, unanswered emails, busy operators, recorded phone messages and canned music.
