I moved from an area where I had DSL with a different provider. Things have been really smooth sailing compared to the other ISP (being 10000 feet closer to my new CO definitely helps!). The DSL line was live after 6 days. The line is 768/128 and has tested over 720 every time I've checked. Having a static IP simplifies things a great deal.

Verizon completed the work at the CO and did not immediately inform ACE. (I knew this because the 'ready' light on the Westell was solid.) Tech support from ACE was very helpful in assigning me an IP address without waiting to hear from Verizon first.

My problem - i call acedsl and there customer service told me a month ago that termination of service is done right away. Now, a newly born 30 days cancellation notice.........

I wanted to disconnect my service - Acedsl customer rep. "Dmitri" says there is an agreement(all of a sudden)**(no link on site)**(have to type in manually)

30 Days cancellation notice..WHATTTTTTTT??? .. so they will charge me for another month...

Acedsl supervisor - accussed me of lying.. tells me that the conversation was OVER (i haven't said a word yet) and hangS up the phone on me.

Today is Aug.1 i sent them an email 3 days ago... and now they will charge me for August, even though i'm not even going to use there service... OK not a question of $50 but.. how about some decency ..CUSTOMER SERVICE?? A JOKE

Bottom line - stay away from Acedsl.. - i'm getting 100kbs from the past 5 months... so you do the math...

We require a 30-day advance notice. You can keep the service until
    8/31/02,
but you will be billed for August regardless. Not using bears no
    relevance on
charges, the line is active and Verizon charges us for the service.

At first when i got dsl from this company i recommened it to serveral people. Unfortunately, after a couple of incidences i had with the techsupport personnel, (actually i always got the same guy), i was convinced by the way he spoke, that he was rude and arrogant. I spoke to him very politely because i know the kind of people that they have to deal with and unfortunately he did not return the favor. There are no thank you's or anything. I thought the service was ok, but I'm not sure about any other companies, but you really have to read the contract very carefully before you get started. Make sure that you note that the company makes you tell them 30 days in advance before you want to cancel. I don't know anyother companies that will not allow you to cancel when you want to. I even spoke to a female representative for that company and she told me to just email them. I emailed them and they emailed me back telling me there is no female representative working for the company. I guess I should have asked for her name. I even asked her, Can i cancel here or do i have to do it online? She said email them and then u won't be billed after the end of your pay period. I wouldn't lie about something like this. Then i Get an email taht informed me of the 30 day cancellation letter in advance. I mean seriously, who knows 30 days in advance when you are going to cancel. I haven't even heard of it. NOw i have to pay for a service that i'm not even using. BE very careful when you read hte terms and agreements before you get started with acedsl. The techsupport guy is rude and I always get the answering machine to leave a message. Its as if he's the only guy who works there. And that 30 day early cancellation bullshit is absolutely unheard of. Now that I'm using optimumonline, i'm glad they aren't making profit off me anymore for that last month that they are robbing me, i feel is quite shady. Why would any company make you cancel 30 days in advance and make you pay for a service you don't want and are not using? Does it make sense to anyone? Just think about it before anyone starts rebutting this. Now i'm happy with optimumonline with their friendly technical support that can actually be reached when I have to reach them. Other than that, it was reliable in the beginning but then lately there have been a lot of major slowdowns and I wasn't gettting hte speeds that I should have been getting.

Ordered 690/128 / static IP for $50. They hooked me up after another isp was unable to do it. They sent a Prestige router, which they later helped me convert to a bridge. They have been very reliable and I have found the tech support to be excellent. This is a small company so there can be delays, but once you get them they are patient and thorough.

My main complaint is that my speed never gets better than 500/64. I have never been able to convince them that they should do anything about this. I used to think I should just be thankful that I had dsl at all, but now that all my friends are getting hooked up and getting 728 without a problem I am beginning to wonder.

Brooklyn,Kings,NY

Verizon
"They were helpful before I changed apartments, but..."
"...they feed me BS excuses now..."
"...I don't trust them."
Pre Sales information:
Connection reliability:
Tech Support:

Value for money:

I've had AceDSL service for about a year with no complaints. They got me back online pretty quickly after localisp and rhythms went down. However, I recently moved to a new apartment (about 4 blocks from my old place). I emailed them in advance and was advised that there would be 4 or 5 days of downtime since I was keeping my phone number. That's fine with me.

Going on three weeks later and I still have no service. Their tech support people are shady as hell. Not clueless like Verizon people, but not trustworthy. The gut impression I get is that they're lazy and they lie to you because they can. For instance, today the rep told me there was no way he could contact verizon about my problems connecting. He said the only way was to re-submit my service request, which requires another weeks delay for processing. This is obviously not the truth, and it's insulting that he would think I'd believe that.

Furthermore, I was told the problem is that there's a missmatch between my address information and my phone number in Verizon's records. After an hour on the phone with 4 different VZ reps in different departments, I was unable to uncover any such discrepancy. Either I wasn't able to find anyone with access to the right database or AceDSL is giving me more BS. Honestly, my biggest concern is that there is a second DB with bogus info and the AceDSL solution is just to fire off another connection request which will just be denied like the others, forcing another weeks downtime on me.

It just seems that that the AceDSL techs don't want to spend any time to get me connected. They just want to send off the request and let Verizon process it when they get to it (assuming that they can). It really seems that they're giving me the runaround, and I don't like it. The service was no problem when it was working (reliable 728/128 24x7), but now I'm left with no service, no believable reason why, and no recourse. I was going to write this all to them in an angry email (hoping that might motivate them to be proactive) but after reading some of the other stories here -- people being cut off for complaining, etc -- I'm writing this review instead. I'm not mad enough to risk another month of downtime trying to get set up with a different provider.

All I can say at this point is that I've been very dissatisfied with the professionalism displayed by the Acecape tech support staff. They consistently bash Verizon at every opportunity and they have no issue with telling a customer to take their business elsewhere if they don’t like what their’ hearing. I've even caught the Acecape support reps misrepresenting the truth here a while back. During a circuit outage I requested a dispatch. Not only did I get the 10 mile run around on that request I finally learned on the day of dispatch they had never actually called Verizon to open a trouble call. I even had a tech rep, during another outage, tell me that he had spoken to me and I had told him the circuit was up and good when in fact it was not. At the time he didn't know he was talking to the same person. Interesting indeed. He immediately stated that it must have been a different person.

This has happened at least twice that I can document. Arkady was less than helpful and as a matter of record he was downright rude and made it a point to direct me to the terms and conditions. Specifically the areas of support and liability. He didn’t want to deal with a customer that wanted support to get a problem resolved. He wanted me to see that Verizon was the evil one and he had nothing to do with it. Well – I don’t (or didn't) pay Verizon so I don’t expect Verizon to support me. Acecape should do that since they are (were) collecting the revenue.

This should tell all of you something. If it doesn't, well, perhaps you deserve to have Acecape as your DSL provider. Just hope you don't have an outage. Arkady will probably do the same to you as he did to me if you push Acecape for resolution quickly. I got an email from him indicating that my DSL service was being disconnected. Period. I’m now with a DSL partner that listens to its customers and actually responds.. What a concept.

Now ~ lets see. Who will respond? Perhaps AlexNY? Are you the same Alex that works for Arkady? During the numerous responses you post, seemly from a customer standpoint I have to wonder if you’re the same person I’ve spoken with at Acecape. Doesn’t matter really. I've been in the customer service game for nearly 20 years now. I don't really care to hear about how many people he has to deal with on a daily basis so please don't attempt to justify the rude behavior. Either you want to provide good, quality service or you don't. In this case, you don't and you don't even attempt too.

I switch from Bell Atlantic to AceCape(aceDSL), but in stead of 7-10 days switching, it was more like 20 days. I get better speed using AceCape but only a bit more than Bell Atlantic. The people at AceCape are helpful and and actually answers your calls, I never had any wait time. All and All, everything is good. However I am only giving it 4 out of 5 stars on the value for money thing because of the speed. Cable and some other DSL companies gives you 1.5m download and a higher upload speed for $40-50 a month.I think all companies should be like that.My service also went down for a couple hrs, some kinda problem at my CO, other than that, AceCape is pretty good.

    Ray

    Update 4/01
Over a year now, AceDSL is still great never experience an major outage yet,
some minors for a few hrs. Nothing really bad

    Update 7/01
Hey guys, as you can see from my old review, I have had AceDSL for over a year now, still going great.I see a lot of you people came from some other DSL company. I understand, I had Verizon or Bell Atlantic as it was known when I subcribed to them.

    Update 5/02
Wow, I just came back from college and shocked to find the speed much faster than before. I guess they finsh upgrading my line. I tested 731/137. The speed i bought was 768/128. How i have a better upload speed?I don't know but I am happy. I am glad they ironed out some problems they before.

I've only had one other problem when I installed a new NIC. One call (20 sec. on hold !!!! - try this with Verizon, AOL or another big company!) and They reset my MAC address and I was back in business.

I am definitely a customer and not an employee of AceDSL!

I previously had a great review of AceDSL 768k/768k service up here. This all changed last year when I had trouble with my line. While I had dealt with their grumpy tech support before, I never had a serious incident. The tech support people were extremely rude and condescending on the phone. They treated me as though I was a complete moron and of course blamed all of the troubles on me. This is not the way to conduct technical support folks. After 2-3 months of complaining, Verizon was FINALLY dispatched to correct the problem. I received no service credit. When I realized that I could get 7.1Mb/768k service from Cloud9 for only $40 a month more, I gave up on these guys. When I cancelled, the only good part of their service was the static IP w/o ppoe.
