The service is very reliable. It hasn't been down once yet. My cable went down almost weekly for a few minutes, sometimes for an hour. I have Qwest Naked DSL so it is about 62$ a month.
Update 5-12-05 Trained at 7168 / 896 Kbps. I get about 6.4mbps down / 800kbps up.
Update 12-23-05 Still reliable, it has not been down that I know of.
Update 5-10-06 Still working great, Interleave was removed, improved pings
Update 12-05-06 Changed a few months ago to bundled POTS/DSL. The DSL cost is 35$/M for 7Mbps. I pay a total of 68$/M for the DSL and Qwest Choice Home with taxes.
Update 7-13-08 The connection is still good most of the time but on occasion I have problems obtaining full speed from Giganews.

Have had DSL for 8 years now. Only outages have been with ISP and I can count those on one hand. Originally had 242kb up/640kb down and was paying close to $40/mo. Now have 512kb up/ 1.5mb down with price for life @21.95/mo. No longer have ISP though Couldn't be happier.

I was amazed at how fast I was up and running with Qwest broadband w/MSN. From order to uptime was 3 days. The router showed up as promised and ontime, the line was ready and active and once I decided not to use the "QuickConnect" software, I was online in less than 5 minutes.
The wireless router is a 2Wire 2701HG-D. It's default configuration is acceptable for a single workstation but not for a larger network with a server. The firewall works well and can be configured for server services. The wireless range is better than my Linksys model.
The line speed is 7168/896. I am only 3 blocks from my Qwest office so you would think I would be able to get rated speeds. In actuality, I average about 5560/680. I've called thier support and was told exactly what I expected to hear, "we offer UP TO 7mbps". That's okay with me, for $46 a month I really can't go wrong.
The connection has been stable. I have only lost internet connectivity once in 30 days and only for less than 2 minutes. I have not noticed any P2P throttling.
I live in a small rual town in central utah and the only other broadband provider is HughesNet which I unfortuantely used for over a year when I lived 6 miles outside of town. There really is no comparison between the two as I'm saving hundreds of dollars a year.
In a few words: A great value for the money, _local_ customer support is very good, MSN support is well.... MSN support. My two biggest complaints would be lack of a POP3 mail server and NO newsgroup (NNTP) access.

Still rock solid, and FAST! Upgraded to Platinum (3M-640K), never goes down. During power outages, it still runs on my UPS (during extended power outages, I fire up my generator, plug in my UPS, fridge, TV and my HR21-700 (DirecTV Hi-def DVR), drink cold beer and enjoy!) without even blinking. The local cableco can't say that. Plus, they only offer 1.5M max here. Price for Live has been working well.

I ordered Qwest Naked DSL 1.5/896kbps DSL for $31.99 a month for a year. The regular price is $49.99 a month for the same package so I jumped on this deal. I was using Midwest Wireless Clearwave wireless internet before but during peak times, the packet loss and ping times were horrible. They couldn't fix the problem either.
Well, I signed up for the DSL and they shipped out the modem and I received it and plugged it in. It connected right up like it should have. I went into the modem stats and I saw the my SNR was 6/6 which is the lowest SNR that the modem will connect at that speed. I only connected at 1536/288kbps so I got my full download rate but I was too far away to achieve my full upload. I plugged the modem into the NID but it was all the same. We are said to be 17,800 feet away from the RT so this is alright I thought.
The connection is stable for the most part but the ping times are higher than cable because of interleaving. We use Viatalk on this line and Viatalk sounds perfect on the incoming audio, but on the outgoing audio, our voice kind of chips away every few seconds. It doesn't cut our voice off or stutter but it just misses a part of the audio for a split second. It doesn't bother the other people much at all.
Our DSL has gone out only once for 15 minutes which wasn't bad. When we first ordered, we were connected at 640/256 and I called in and the got our speed to where it was supposed to be the next day.
Overall, I am happy with Qwest DSL and the speeds and pricing. I wish that they could build an RT closer to use so we can get the full upload speed and have higher SNR margins for more stable DSL but we are in the country so we are happy. It was much better than our wireless ISP.
UPDATE 7-8-2008
Qwest has since upgrade our area by bring Fiber to the Node with ADSL2+. They replaced all lines from the new remote terminal all the way to our house. We now have 7mb internet and our VOIPo sounds better than ever with much more stable pings. Downloads are right where they need to be also. GREAT!!!

I ordered the Silver package (1.5 Mb, 868 kbps). I am getting 1.2 MB down and 150 kbps up. I am working with technical support to figure out how to improve upload speeds.
But I am impressed with the reliability of the service. Much better than Satellite and Wireless.
As soon as the upload speeds are improved, I'll be a happy camper!

Formerly 1.5mbps/1024kbps Qwest service w/ static IP. When available, I ordered Titanium service (12Mbps/896kbps) on a Wed and had new Motorola Netopia modem and service the following Wed. I bridged PPPoE into my own IPCop router/firewall without issue. Speeds are consistently as advertised (less overhead) and latency is much better than before as shown in the broadbandreports.com speed tests:
Speed Test #53746679 by dslreports.com Run: 2008-07-05 09:04:00 EST Download: 10134 (Kbps) Upload: 724 (Kbps) In kilobytes per second: 1237 down 88.3 up Boost: 17418 Latency: 26 ms Tested by server: 68 flash User: 393325 @ dslreports.com User's DNS: onlymooo.com
(I wish that there was some way for BBR to show Qwest.net as the ISP instead of my own domain...)
The price I'm paying for my new service is (supposedly) only $8.00 more that I was paying previously. I say supposedly because I haven't received my new bill. We'll see.

A little history....when I first hooked up on cable in 2001 it was with @home. That lasted exactly two days and then the service went down due to differences. I then discovered WideOpenWest and their DSDN technology and IT ROCKED! I had amazing speeds IN BOTH downloads and uploads and at the time was one of the fastest ISP's in the US. But, DSDN technology was discontinued, WideOpenWest was sold and then re-emerged as Champion Broadband. Champion was recently bought out by Comcast. Comcast wanted to bump my access from around $30/month to $49/month.
Qwest offers a guarantee for life at $24.99 (recently raised to $26.99) so I am locked for now at 25/month. It's slow, the best login downlink speed I have seen is 832/KBs. If you figure maximum theoretical throughput versus Comcast at 6/mbs (theory) it is pricey and much more expensive in theory...but this was an issue of cashflow. Plus I am not a very big fan of Comcast (customer service issues though those were some years ago...they may have improved....I am not sure).
But that aside, it works, no issues, no outages.
20080703 Update:
After some stability issues Qwest has now dropped my speeds to 256/256 with NO reduction in price saying "well at least you have internet service". Cancelled as soon as I could dial the business office. This is the Spirit of Service they claim? Its more like "take it or leave it, we've done all that we can".
The attitude of their tech support staff was what has really got my blood boiling....what ever happened to "serve the customer"?

It has taken us a while to finally get to Qwest, but we have never regretted our move to them!
We started off back in 1999 with Dial-up... enough said. When it became available, we decided to go with Clearwire Wireless Broadband. It seemed to be the best deal available to us. We had their 1.5 Mb/256 kb service. It was great for a while, but quickly degraded to almost unusable speeds. We went through two modems and two years of Internet hell.
We moved to our new house about two years ago. At that time, we were still stuck in our contract with Clearwire. The only thing consistent about Clearwire was that our service was getting consistently worse. So, as soon as our contract came up, we canceled our service, citing our horrible service. Of course, they did their best to try and keep us... didn't work. At that same time, the contract for the phone company we were with (ACN) came up. What better time to switch services on both!
For high speed internet in our area (West Boise), we had three options: Clearwire, Cable One, or Qwest. We were seriously looking at Cable One for a while, mostly because of their faster download speeds. However, I kept in mind that we had at least two heavy internet users in our house who uploaded about as much as they downloaded (my mother works from home using a VPN, and my father sends and receives large drawing files). So, because of Cable One's horrendously slow upload speeds, and their inflated prices for their service, we chose Qwest and their 1.5 Mb/768 kb service... and we've never looked back! With our bundle discount and all charges included, the total price for internet (not including phone) is 26.99! YES, that includes all charges listed on our bill for internet. With the phone service added in, and all applicable taxes listed there, our total monthly bill comes to right around $65 a month (we have the 5 cent long distance plan, so that's why it varies).
Because of the fact we had gone with a different phone company for a while, we had to wait about 10 days before they could switch our service back to Qwest. After that, it was an additional 2 days before the technician could come to our house to hook up the DSL service. However, as soon as he finished up, we were online at faster speeds than we had ever hoped for!
We've now been with Qwest since about March of 2008. In that time, we've only had one outage, which I believe was caused by a driver who crashed into a box. It was only down for a couple of hours. As far as speeds go, speedtest.net clocks it at 1280 kb download and 683 up, with an average of 90-95 ms for ping. That seems about right, but then again, after Clearwire, almost anything would be an improvement.
When it comes to setting up MyAccount, BE CAREFUL!! Don't do it until after your first couple of bills arrive. I tried setting it up before our first bill arrived, and have had trouble getting it to work properly.
Overall, my family and I have been extremely pleased with the service Qwest has provided. Very reliable, and consistent speeds. When it comes to internet and phone service in the west Boise area, Qwest comes out on top!
P.S. Qwest is currently rolling our their Fiber Optic network in our area. The higher speeds aren't available at our house YET, but we expect them to be very soon, as nearby neighborhoods are currently receiving those speeds. When available, we will likely upgrade our service to the 7 Mb service. I'll be sure to update when we do so!
