UPDATE 7-25-09
Well I ordered qwest to give it a shot here in Utah. My house for many many years was stuck at 1.5 down which was fast 8 or 9 years ago. But todays speeds that is like using dialup.
Our area within the last few months if that was upgraded with fiber to the nod I believe. I am now able to get 12/896 in which I get 10.8/700 to 800 up on a very consistent basis.
My pings for games is under 100 just about everywhere which is great! Overall very happy with the upgrade, but of course would like to get the higher speeds that they are beginning to offer.
--------------
My area I can get 5120 / 896 Kbps and on speed tests I get just about every time, 4300/750. That to me is very acceptable.
Overall the line has been rock solid. No issues, pings are a touch higher then I would like to see them on a DSL line, but seriously not bad at all.
The price I believe is around 15 dollars to high for the speed I get. But I would rather give my money to qwest then have comcast get it.
If your in the Spokane Valley area I would suggest qwest.

I have a "fiber to node" connection rated at 7 mb. I replaced a 3 mb copper connection that was pulled out from under my feet. I noticed that all of a sudden my connection degraded from 3 (actually 2+) to just over 1. Several calls to technical support were long and fruitless (included standing in the snow with a connection to service connect to rule out in house wiring)
I turned out that when Qwest implement FTN in my neighborhood they arbitrarily cut faster than 1.5 service to 1.5. When I finally got that figured out I purchased the 7 mb option with a "lifetime" guarantee (for a 2-year obligation on my part) of price.
I was disappointed that Qwest would not allow me to use xmission, a superb local ISP. I ended up with a stripped qwest account (no email or storage) which is a lot better than the MSN that they tried to push me on to.
When the change was made I had a little trouble getting technical support to give me my user name and password. I had the modem set to bridge and just needed to configure my router. I said that several times but they kept telling me to configure the modem. When I finally got user/pw combo it came right up and has been very reliable.

Ordered basic service. It was $10 cheaper if we had no services, just the line. We use Gmail and Yahoo. Also no fussing about bundled security. Were able to use our own choices. Qwest replaced 2 defective 2wire routers. The last replacement was a Motorola which somehow would not accept our kids wifi cards on their laptops. Theirs were the external - mine's internal and was not affected. That has been fixed.
So far, so good.

Qwest
"Great reliability, price, upload speed"
"Download and upload speed"
"Beats the heck out of Comcast, even if it's slower!"

I have Qwest DSL at my home with their fastest-available speeds of 1.5 Mbps/896 Kbps. Despite Comcast offering 16 Mbps/2 Mbps here, I will continue to use Qwest because of the reliability.
I first ordered Qwest DSL with Windows Live back in April of 2008 after poor service with Comcast, the local cable company. A 6 Mbps service (from Comcast) is only useful if it's up most of the time - and with Comcast, it wasn't. The representative on the phone provided slightly inaccurate information regarding the upload speed, which is actually 896 Kbps, except the representative stated it was 1 Mbps.
During my service with Qwest, reliability has been amazing. There have been very few outages and I can confidently say service reliability has been 99.99%. Adding to that, Qwest (at least in my area) does not seem to be oversold like Comcast and I have always received the full speeds I pay for. After ATM overhead, the actual speed is about 1.3 Mbps/740 Kbps - close enough to the advertised speed.
At one point, I had a block of static IPs from Qwest and was happy with those. Unfortunately, my present financial situation has caused me to cancel those. However, my job has required me to have a dedicated line and so I now have both my personal DSL line as well as a dry-loop work DSL line.
I've also dealt with tech support on a few occasions. The first-level tech support is based in the Philippines, which may deter some of you - but I can say they genuinely try to help you. If they can't help you, you can call the regular (1-800-244-1111) number and ask for the US-based tech support which I believe is second-level support.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with, and highly recommend, Qwest DSL. Comcast (or your local cable company) may offer higher speeds for less - but is it really worth it when you can't use that service half the time? In my opinion, no, and that's why I will stick with Qwest DSL even with the slower speeds.

this ftth service is very reliable. speed only gets to about 85% of their advertised speeds (6 and 10mb down, 600 or 1000kb up if i recall correctly were the options), but its been dependable and issues were fixed pretty quickly whenever they did arise. one thing i do is keep a non-qwest dns server on my list. they seem to have had a few issues with their servers. this fixed the problem nicely. on hold time for support help was pleasantly short for this product. my only complaint is that the speed offerings are much lower than they should be for ftth because of their very lame attempt at being a TV distributor over the fiber. i heard from a csr they disco'ing their choicetv offer for most customers and are leading with the directv option. i only wish this was the plan for the ftth communities they serve. it seems that they are going to keep forcing that FiOS-like TV option down our throats (if only it was as good as verizon's...). if they offered the directv bundle here, i would love it. i would take the phone, sat-tv and fiber from them if offered as a bundle. their loss. now all i take from them is the fiber. it is why they only get a 3 for value. at $45 per month via the HOA, it is not a bargain for those speeds.

Recently moved into a new house (in the same zip/town). Found out Qwest only offers 1.5Mbps speed in the area, with NO plans to upgrade to the so-called adsl fttn. Rural area, but has Comcast around. Unfortunately, Qwest offers 7Mbps across the river, but because we aren't as dense (or for whatever reason they deem this area "unprofitable"), no plans to upgrade. Comcast hadn't finished the area quite yet, so I needed something until they service my subdivision. The customer service is just awful. I needed to setup online billing (couldn't get it activated online), and was told by three different people to chat with the CS rep online through the chat box. At least that got resolved, but what if I had trouble with my online service? Am I gonna get bumped around to different departments until I give up? Their interleaving crap on the line makes gaming a joke. 32ms of extra overhead ruins a lot of things. Nowhere near the 768Kbps upload speed, more like 256Kbps. Not exactly ideal on the down either, probably @ 1.2. For the price, it is hard to keep them around as it isn't worth the cost/speed ratio. I'd rather pay the extra $20 for Comcast, and I get 3X the speed.
Pros. - Easy install, (self install kit), clean service (i.e. no outages, no filter problems), convenient (they do have service in a lot of areas), adequate speeds for the listed service.
Cons. HORRIBLE customer service. Slow speeds, barely what is advertised (if you use the Internet for anything other than email, shopping, 1.5 DSL is NOT for you). Dysfunctional website; for setting up your accounts, it can be quite a task. Interleaving on the line adds 32ms of ping basically. No plans to upgrade the area.

I was previously with Comcast, but once Qwest ramped up their DSL speeds, I switched and went with them. Qwest initially provided a not-so-great Actiontec modem/router, but I have since replaced this with a simple Cisco 678 modem backed by a powerful OpenBSD router/firewall.
Overall, I am quite pleased with Qwest.

I have the Platinum service, with promised speeds up to 7Mbs.... Im only getting 1.8Mbs, and just recieved my 1st bill, where I am charged for my "free" modem, my 1st months bill...with discounts 152.93.....ouch. Well long story short, I will be canceling this sevice as soon as I can get my cable reinstalled. DSL has issues and always will, never comes close to its promised speed. very bad business practices, and they have theyre mail service going thru MSN... another internet joke. I had cableone before and will again soon, really regret trying Qwest. I couldnt recomend it to a friend, but if I had enemies, Id tell them how great it is and to get it asap... hehe poor fools

Long time Qwest user. Now have naked DSL 7mps for about 60 dollars. Like Qwest because I move alot. They are easy to setup and I already have a relation with them as a good customer.
I like how they have no download limits, and I never get a notice for using bittorent. I rarely have a problem with the service, plus with the free Motorola 3347 I already have it was a no brainer to chose Qwest.

I am employed in IT/IS and have computing and networking skills that far exceed the average consumer. This is not a rant from an uniformed user frustrated by their own incompetence. I tried to switch from Comcast to Qwest for telephone and internet services. I was enticed by the 12 mps connection speed offered in my area. The installation was to take place on a Friday, with a bundled Direct TV installation on Saturday. Friday evening I got home from work and installed my new modem. Epic fail. After ensuring that I had carefully followed the instructions, I gave their support number a call. It seems that they had forgotten to enter my number into their system for routing. I was assured that all would be taken care by morning. Saturday morning I got up early to try again. No luck, and when I called for tech support, I got a recorded message of a guy with a bad Indian accent suggesting that I call back in an hour. It was about that time that the DirectTV guy showed up. He was very courteous waited while I spoke with a succession of Qwest employees (whose scripted responses were of no use whatsoever). After an hour or so, I suggested that he leave and told the Qwest rep to cancel the order. In a final show of incompetence, they could not even do that. It seems that the only people who work at Qwest on the weekend are sales, an Indian call center that may or may not be available, and one DSL tech who is powerless to do anything other than telephone troubleshooting. If that fails, you are on your own.
