Well, I told you I'd be back to let you know if they did what they said and gave me a refund.... they DID NOT!!!! Even though they said they would, I even have an email from them... they didn't. I ended up having to dispute their charges, and my credit card is going to remove them. Their own contract said that if I didn't want the service, before I had in install date, all I had to do to "avoid penalties", was fax them a letter.. I did that, to the sales rep and the billing department. NOTHING. Even though they sent me an email saying they charge first, then try to see if it's available, then refund if it's not, (so I shouldn't even need a cancellation letter), they didn't do that at all. I jumped through the hoops, was alot nicer to them on here than I should have been, I guess... they tried to rip me. They charged more than I signed authorization for, and then they tried to withhold $250 dollars, even though by their own words they should have refunded when they found out that the services I requested aren't available. Then, the authorization didn't go through till Novemeber, which means that the modem charges shouldn't have even been run (they have a special going on with the modem free in Novemeber and the installation free too). They charged me for it anyway, though they can't give me service!!!! And then didn't refund it to my credit card, even after they knew they couldn't provide service, I'd sent the cancellation letter that makes no sense, and haven't refunded a CENT!!! Thanks iNYC... you've shown me what to avoid in an ISP.

Well unlucky, or lucky me depending on how you look at it, got their flashcom account installation canceled. I ordered flashcom, before i know about this site, and bought the 384/128k plan. i had a 2 year contract and other bs. it was through covad. well i find out im 13000 feet from CO so they canceled my account. im glad becuase i didnt like flashcom, all i heard was bad reviews and they never answered any of my quesitons
so i emailed inyc.com and i got a email back with info and justin's phone number. i forget his last name.
anyway, i call and their very nice, and they know what their talking about
i can get sdsl, 15000 feet max. but i didnt want to spend a lot, and they had the $99 deal from northpoint for 784/784k. the only probelm is that northpoint wont be lit up on my co until 1/12/00
but hey, i can wait becuase inyc.com is good from what i hear, and they have good customer service.

    i hope 1/12 comes soon

    matt

Tech Support:

I ordered a 768/384k line 3 weeks ago in Massachusetts. Within a week, I was provided with two installation dates, one for Bell Atlantic, the other for Covad. As promised, Bell Atlantic arrived on the date of their installation. They did their outside wiring work (I didn't request inside wiring) and vanished by 8am, having delivered the line. The next week, Covad arrived right on time, plugged in the Efficient 5250 Bridge and the line immediately worked. Pre-Sales, Tech support and the installation experience were excellent. As promised, I was provided with a Static IP. Almost every call is answered immediately and when someone is not available, I have always received a call back.

I will report later on the other categories.

Tech Support:

I ordered the 384/128 static IP service about three weeks ago, and exactly as scheduled, I am now hooked up and humming. David Bruno, my sales rep,did an excellent job on all counts: patiently explaining all aspects of the service, answering my questions, and most impressive in these times, called me at least once a week to follow-up, remind me about scheduled service, and make sure Bell Atlantic and Covad executed properly. By the way, the service techs that visited my home may have had more hardware in their ears than they installed in my house, but they were on-time and efficient.

The real surprise came with the technical support. Instead of some surly techno-geek or drop-out airhead, I dealt with Oriya Pollak, who was patient, friendly, and helped me through the remainder of the installation and configuration process.

For you cynics in the audience, I've lived in Brooklyn for 30 years, am as cynical as the best of you, and used to having to follow up myself just to get base-line service. This was a pleasant experience, and feel free(to a point) to e-mail me at karlkunz@inyc.com. I will rate the other parts of the service as I have more experience with it.

Well, let me start by saying that i've dealt with a few lemons before choosing to go with iNYC. Every other ISP that offers DSL that I talked to left me hanging on the phone indefinately. After calling iNYC, it was nice to know that one of these businesses was actually willing to talk to one of their customers. My sales rep, David Bruno, was excellent, and answered all of my questions easily and without any real problems. iNYC provided every date to me (along with day-before reminders), needless to say, they coordinated everything very well.

Today, it is about 3 weeks since they recieved my contract, and as promised, they delivered everything on time with no strings attached.

All in all, i would have to say that iNYC is a great choice for DSL, they do what they do with near perfection, and I am a very satisfied customer.

    Well,

Let me start by saying I did a lot of research on DSL and since I was doing
that both for the Company I work for and myself I studied real hard. I read
all the negative press about Flashcom and I was trying to get into the
service without alot of cash out lay. INYC is offering basically everything
to get up and running free. Free install, Router, First month service. So to
get our IDSL line in at work was a total of 125.00 down and that was applied
    to the second month payment.

Let me say that all the dealings I have had with ISP's have been bad. Long
wait times on the phone or no help at all. I called INYC and started talking
with Justin Kiliszek He answered all my questions and gave me his direct
line to call him back, which I did several times. He always answered the
phone very quickly I can tell you I never waited longer than a minute on the
phone. If he did not know the answered he would ask to call me back. Let me
say one thing when someone's says they are going to call you back it
generally means you going to have to call them. Not so he always called back
    and in a timely manner.

I order the service on Oct 5th 1999 on Oct 8th Justin called me with Telco
install date of Oct 14th. On Oct 13th he emailed and called with the Covad
install date of Oct 21st 1999. I did not ever have to call and ask for any
date or info about the Install, and from what I had read about others
experiences I thought we would have to make a lot of calls.

The install went okay there was one minor problem and that is our network is
100mbs and the router has a 10mbs interface and that took a while to figure
out but INYC stuck with it. When we got up and running I check the speed and
it was too slow. I called Justin and we had several conversations about it he
talked with his techs. They dispatched Covad to come back out. They did and
it took sometime but let me say everyone stuck with it and it was fixed and
now we are blazing along the DSL highway. My experience with INYC was great.
Their customer service was excellent and everything happened just like it
was suppose to. I wish all my purchases would go this smoothly and yes I
should be getting the DSL line from INYC at my house soon.

I would recommend this ISP to anyone that wants a smooth transition into DSL
with thought a lot of your personnel time being involved with follow up.

    Sincerly,

    Robert H.

I'm thinking of subscribing to iNYC, but they don't garauntee the 384/128k ADSL connection. I have a few misgivings about companies that don't garauntee the connections but everything else seems ok. And I plan on signing the contract to recieve free install/equipment. I would appreciate it if someone who uses iNYC(but is not in NYC) could respond, stating whether iNYC is a reliable service. thanks.

If you asked me. I would say YES
I had a DSL line installed through
INYC and did not experience any problems.Everyone from the sales reps to the provisioning department helped my DSL installation go smoothly.
I personally would rather work with a
company that has great Techs rather than
    great TEXT.

I have been shooping around for DSL for sometime before i came across iNYC. I was first impressed with the rep that helped me get set up with DSL in my office. There was always someone there to answer my questions promptly.

I was so impressed with the customer service and technical support, I can honestly say that if any of my friends need internet or computer work I will feel comfortable referring them to inyc.com
