We recently switched to iNYC for our three major sites, due to lack of dependability on a previous ISP. I was afraid the transition would be horrific (and tech support would be, too!) but I was very impressed with the knowledge and interest my sales rep (Justin) showed. An added bonus, we are paying the same amount as our old ISP, but have double the bandwidth. (2Mb/sec @ $399!) Pretty neat!

The only catch was that they do not support dialup. If you currently have that need, plan an alternate method in advance.

Installation was a breeze once Verizon's part was through. Oriya, David, and Ravi are all great on the technical end, and always answer your questions.

Thanks guys for the great service.

If you're desperately searching for a new, reliable DSL provider, they are definitely the way to go.

Value for money:

It is unfortunate that Northpoint has gone under, because I am being
forced to give up the best ISP I've ever had, INYC. I switched to INYC
after experiencing the worst service I've ever experienced in my life
    from ANY company with PSN.

From the very first phone call to sales, Oleg Handelman, went above and
beyond to find the right package for me. Installation was right on
target with the time frame given. The very few times there was a
problem, customer or tech support was on it immediately. Never any long
waits on hold. If I left a message, my call was always returned in a
timely manner. I remember once, Oriya (I believe he founded the company)
called me from a cell phone on the streets of Manhattan in the pouring
rain to help me with an issue I was having! I have never experienced any
downtime. The speed was exceptional (786/339). Never had any billing
    problems.

In short, I highly doubt I will ever find this high quality of a product
on the DSL market again. Every ISP should model themselves after INYC. I
would recommend them highly to anybody and I give them 5 stars across
    the board in every category.

I signed up with INYC on Feb 2nd 2001. My DSL line was up and running
in less than 20 working days. David Bruno, Alam, and Ravi really worked
a miracle for me. They returned calls quickly (within hours, and in
some cases minutes), they took the time to explain things to a very LOW
TECH person (me) so I could actually understand what was going on. I
read some of the reviews on this page and realize how much I don't know,
and how much these guys really did to help me.

I would (and I am) recommend INYC to anyone looking for DSL service.

I got a line in Feb 2000 after a wait for Bell Atlantic to sort themselves out.

Couple of small outages, none for a while now.

However, 50+ hours ago, the line goes dead. I call iNYC after 4 hrs and after they get me to reboot the modem they open a trouble ticket stating the possibility of router table updates going awry at the NOC.

Turns out that iNYC originally sold me Transbeam bandwidth but that, later, Covad forced Tranbeam (along with lots of other small Covad resellers) to buy their Covad DSL through Zyan (D'oh!).

So now something has gone wrong and it is being attributed to Zyan who - as you are all aware - are in bankruptcy court.

It would appear that iNYC and Transbeam are having a hard time communicating and getting a response from Zyan.(Duh!)

Is there anyone else out there having a similar experience and with any more light to shed on the murky workings of the Covad-Zyan-Transbeam-iNYC food-chain?

I have had INYC as my ISP for a year now. I can give a thorough review of my experiences with this provider. I ordered DSL when it was a fairly new technology. As many people how, INYC resold lines of other DSL companies to their early customers.

I was given a line that belonged to Fastpoint. A few days ago, I received an email from INYC and a letter from Covad stating that Fastpoint filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. I am given a five choices by Covad to migrate to. (I'll talk more about this at the end.)

When I was interested in DSL, a friend of mine recommended INYC. I checked out the website and found their 384/128 ADSL package to be a good deal because it included free installation and free modem with a 2 year contract. After ordering my DSL, the waiting game began. I had to wait three months because Bell Atlantic wouldn't schedule a visit to my house. When BA did come, it took 3 visits to get my DSL line up. The first BA tech who came said that a line could not be hooked up to the 3rd floor, where my computer is. The 2nd BA came and installed the DSL line is less than an hour. The BA tech installed a completely new line dedicated for DSL. The Covad tech came a few days after the BA tech, but the DSL still wasn't up. Then a 3rd BA tech came and fixed a loose connection, which was a job for Covad but the tech was nice enough to fix it. Finally, another Covad tech came and got the DSL line up and running. When I was interested in DSL, a friend of mine recommended INYC. In the early days of my DSL service, I experienced a few outages. Some outages lasted a few days. When I had an outage that lasted more than a day, I called INYC. If INYC did not know what happened to the line, they called Covad to find out, then called me back during the night.

After a scheduled outage to update or upgrade the system or whatever they had to do, my DSL has been running smootly and reliably. Although I am only getting about 80 - 85% of my purchased speed. I am downloading at around 35-40 k/s, which is much better than dial up.

After 1 year, have of my contract being fulfilled, the company that owns my line filed for bankruptcy. The five ISPs that I can migrate to are: Speakeasy, Covad.net, DSLnet, XO Communications, and Earthlink. Speakeasy is good but I don't want RADSL. Covad.net is getting good reviews so far, but I don't kow where their POP is located. DSLnet, XO Communications and Earthlink are not highly rated on this site.

I am planning on changing to I-2000. They have good reviews and have a POP in midtown Manhattan. I-2000 also uses a Speedstream5260, which I already have from INYC. BUt I will be changing from a static IP to a dynamic IP.

If anyone has suggestions on which ISP I should go for, please post a reply.

When I first called up I was a little unhappy because you had to fill out some form they wouldn't take your information over the phone but after that things went very smooth. The price for 256 SDSL is great, the line is fast and it all took less than 20 days. After the NAS guy left my house I was on browsing within 20 min. The line has always been up. I haven't had to use tech support yet, but I would guess that it is good.

I chose iNYC for my law firm because they had great reviews on here, and I'm happy to be able to contribute accordingly. Because we ordered during the Christmas/New Years season, setup was slow, but iNYC techs always answered the phone and returned my messages, even when I was calling just to harass them about getting us set up. I didn't understand the three-party installation process and I was a little unrealistic about the time it would take to set up because I talked to an overly optimistic sales guy. But I could tell that they were working hard to get us dates even though it seemed to take a long time.

Once we were set up everything went great. The iNYC tech walked me through configuring our network and answered all my questions--however small or large--along the way. Our experience thus far has been excellent, and I recommend iNYC to any small business.

THIS IS NOT A REVIEW. IT IS WRITTEN BY INYC SUPPORT PEOPLE.

    Hello,

My name is Oriya Pollak; I am a Co-founder and V.P. of network operations for INYC. At 2 years of business I ran the technical support department and I personally supported the first 1000 INYC clients. Currently I overlook our tech support department and I run our Data Center and Network Operation Center in downtown Manhattan.

I am here to talk about INYC DSL Products, INYC Support, INYC Network, and INYC in general. I will be checking here a few times a day, answering any question you have and responding to reviews.

    INYC (INYC Network) History:
It is no big secret that for the first 6 months of business INYC resold other large DSL ISPs. In order to ensure INYC's long-term business plan, INYC did not have the 'if we build it they will come model that most other ISPs had. Please note that most of DSL Specialists went out of business or in chapter 11 these days, please look at DSL Reports' Company Death watch: »Company deathwatch.

INYC resold the following ISPs in the first 6 months of business:
    Internet Connect
    Fast Point
    CAIS
    PSN
    Zyan

We realize that it might not have been at most fairness not to tell our end users but we did everything in our power to ensure their satisfaction and uptime. Many times we could not solve the problem due to the fact that it was not our network and we didn't have total control on the DSL line, but you can be sure that we do everything in our power to get all matters resolved as quickly as possible.

Approximately 12 months ago we launched our own DSL Network. INYC has built a nation wide broadband network utilizing Level3 Communications for co-location as well as Internet bandwidth. Today we run a fully Cisco powered network on Level3's OC-192 backbone with 2000 Mbps of redundant Internet Bandwidth available at each of our POPs from Level3 and redundant bandwidth provided by Williams Communications.
We have chosen to partner with NAS (Network Access Solutions) for the North East and with Rhythms for the rest of the country for our CLEC Partners. INYC has Private Collocation suites where we run our dedicated hosting subsidiary INYCHOST (www.inychost.net). INYC is running a superb network, allowing us to host the largest Internet radio stations in the world, Big Radio, (www.bigradio.com). We have one of the lowest network latency times in the industry and the highest quality for DSL service. Please feel free to contact me or ask here for live clients on our network and live IP addresses to ping and trace route. Also feel free to ping and traceroute our web site to see that we do have our own facilities at Level3 communications.

Please note: EVERY DSL line that get ordered these days goes through our own network where we are guaranteed 99.999% uptime in our SLA's from our providers (Level3 and Williams communications). We believe we have the best DSL service in the industry and that's what's keeping INYC away from the 'Company Death watch . We no longer have reseller relationships with Internet Connect, Fast Point, CAIS, PSN, or Zyan.

The problems we are faced with right now is that we cannot switch a lot of our own clients to our own network due to the fact that a 2 year contract was signed with the ISP that was resold. These lines are the subjects of the poor reviews here at DSL Reports. I don't argue with the fact that we DID resell some ISPs at first but there is only so much we can do right now to prevent those ISPs from going out of business or to make them better their DSL network and support. Some end users understand the situation and work with us to order a NEW INYC DSL line and work with us on the termination fees that we have to pay.

If you are an INYC client and you have any doubts about your line, feel free to contact me or ask me here and I will provide you with all the information you need about your DSL line and how it is possible for you to get onto our broadband network. I am going to try to help on a case-by-case basis and try to explain and solve every complaint.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.

This has to be the WORST ISP I have EVER dealt with. I give them one's

national TV show. Tech support might get a zero. They gave a faulty router
with bugs in the firmware, they don't return voice mail, etc. Even
Redconnect before it went out of business did better then this

If anyone has any idea, please let me know.
