Well, after getting fed up with my ADSL service from Telocity I decided to look for a new provider that can guarantee me up time! I started looking around here for a potential new ISP. I read reviews of quite a few ISP's, including Earthlink and Verizon (don't like the PPPoE) and a few others including speakeasy and inyc.
I liked the reviews of Speakeasy, so I went and checked out their website. But wanted a local company in the New York area, I found INYC and The prices and services seem to be a better value than speakeasy.
Shell Lewis was my sales person and and she answered all my questions quickly and accurately and to think about it everyone I've talked to at inyc so far has been very courteous and always helpful. I ordered the 256k SDSL line for $99/mo x 12 months with free install and equipment rental. They even gave me the SDSL Service Level Agreement that guarantees for 99.99% uptime a month. I really love the Availability of tech calls always being available for me. I even like the fact that they where there Saturday and Sundays for support.
Thank you very much for the all your help. I greatly appreciate your service. This has been with no doubt the smoothes service for new comers. An extremely FAST and reliable line.
I will update this review further as things progress. Christos Soudakis

Off of INYC.com's website I found dslreports. I would like to add my review of their customer service. Back in April, 2000 we ordered business DSL for our company. The salesman kept checking back with us until we finally signed the contract. They had a guarantee of service within a certain timeframe, but once we signed the contract, we never heard back from them. The salesman would not return emails, and we finally made a request to cancel service. I contacted them twice, explaining the situation and my request for refund. Here it is, 8 months later, and I have been wasting my valuable time contacting American Express over and over trying to clear this up. Although they never provided us with any equipment, never billed us for any monthly service and failed to meet their obligation of providing service within a specific timeframe, they are refusing to issue a refund.
I will never and do not recommend anyone to use there services, as their practices are deceitful and dishonest. Please give them the lowest score possible.
If you want to give a high score to an ISP, please give mine to Cloud9.net.
Thank you.
LW

Fred Cassell 256k sdsl $99/mo
I found inyc.com after RedConnect banged me with no shame! I ordered my line from iNYC at the end of November after getting a pleasant email from RedConnect and after just about 4 weeks my line was installed according to plan. I would say I have been satisfied so far! 27 days from initial order to "surfs up". I guess I'm one of the lucky ones compared to some of the horrors I've read out there. Verizon did the loop work, 20 days after the order was placed. I am very pleased with the service thus far and would highly recommend iNYC.
The best thing was that iNYC was always there to expedite my concerns. I will send another review in a month. Thank you David Bruno for always answering my phone calls you really made things go easy.
Thank you INYC and have a great New Year! Much Love Fred Cassell

I was PSN.NET customer since feb 2000. I moved in may, and my service was out for the next 6 months. I decided to dump psn (terrible customer service, tech support etc) and I was looking for a local isp. I found Inyc.com, they had great sales team. My install took longer than usual due to me not providing all the info they asked. During the whole setup I was always notified about techs comming in and the schedule. My connection is 256k SDSL, great for my needs. Price was ok too. So far great experience. Several static IP addresses , web space, tons of email addresses, domain hosting. Highly recommended.

This review kind of flies in the face of the other reviews posted. I originally was very happy with INYC and have had my SDSL service for 7 months. Even though they could never get my email accounts working ( try this server, now try this one, etc..... ), I was satisfied. Then on December 14, my service stopped in mid-use. My physical connection was fine, but I could no longer ping any outside address. I notified tech support and they confirmed I was down and opened a trouble ticket. Three days later, I spoke with the same tech and he told me he would open a trouble ticket. I mentioned I already had one and would like its status. He said he would call me back, but never did. I then called Steve Bruno, my sales rep and one of the company's owners. He transferred me to the same technician and we went through the same discussion again. Then I started reading about the Northpoint/PSN.NET problems on DSLREPORTS. I called Steve Bruno again to inform him that this could have something to do with my problem. He said it was just "a rumor" and that he has 40-50 accounts with PSN.NET through Northpoint and I was the only one having a problem. Transferred back to tech support........
It is now over two weeks later. I am trying to get my ISP switched to APK.NET so I can have service again. None of my emails or calls are being returned by INYC.COM. Their tech support telephone option goes directly to voice mail.
This is my lesson for using a reseller and not a direct ISP. I'd be interested in knowing how many others have had this same problem.

My original review was never posted by dslreports. Here it is below the current update. Names used because the news is only good.

Everything below still stands. iNYC does have some problem in its accounting office but I've never been overcharged or double billed and an email or a phone call seems to take care of everything. Annoying no doubt that one has to do it more than once

I'm one of the many who was severely burned by PacBell. After that I waited 3 months before I even considered going back into the DSL fray after such a tremendously stressful, time wasting, zero intelligent technical support, repeatedly machine crashing, PacBell experience. I then used the dslreport mechanism to request bids from two companies that seemed to have good reviews in the S.F. Bay Area. Note that Earthlink never even responded to that dslreport request. iNYC responded immediately and the story has only gone from good to better.
Immediate response by Leo Jeremias; detailed technical discussion about my own computer and past problems with PacBell by Oriya over the phone in advance before I would even consider talking to a salesperson; Justin Kiliszek, the most competent salesguy who watched over the process through to the end; technical support from David Bruno; scheduling and handholding support by Elena, Rachel, Cassadi, maybe some others. Always the sense that there's a team that works together.
A phone call to anyone at iNYC including Steven Bruno brought appropriate and proper response to concerns over speeding up installation to meet my schedule; checking up on the local phone company and COVAD (smart, efficient installation and testing first thing on a Saturday morning (by a disgusted ex-PacBell DSL installer)).
No further details necessary. The cost is definitely higher than others but how about a great hookup; no downtime so far (2 weeks); response time as expected; lower blood pressure for me; and the feeling that there will be folks at the end of the line in New York whenever I call who will intelligently deal with whatever I can throw at them?

This is the end of my relationship with the INYC, a very sad one. As everybody knows the North Point is buncrupting. The INYC rep called me a few days ago informing that my service will be down in a couple of days and, therefore, I should look for a new provider. I told him that unfortunatelly it is not so simple. In July 2000 I signed a one year contract according to which I paid $383.00 as the installation fee and agreed to pay $59.00 monthly for the service provided. If I was to terminate the contract prior to the expiration day, I was obliged to pay the monthly charges multiplied by the number of remaining months plus additional fees. Nobody would ever care if I was to loose a job or get ill (they would not care if my emloyer, read the North Point, would be buncrupting or not). I was to be held responsible for the contract anyhow. Now, the INYC is telling me "get lost" and does not even attempt to compansate me in any way. They have a capacity of connecting me to their own network, but, of course, nobody wants to hear about this solution. They are telling me that I would have to pay $99.99 then ( I am just cirious how they handle this problems with the bussines not residentional customers:)). As to MR. POLLAK's posting, I just want to say that it is easy to sell a product promising things, but it is harder to keep up to them. You did not even care to answer my e-mail, not mentioning the necessary in this situation appology. I think that this case deserves to be presented to a customer rights agency:(
I am including this review as a smoth ride just because I think that more people reads it:)

Speed???? - I have had a lot of trouble with this ISP from the beginning. Connection speed has slowly dwindled from a contracted 1meg SDSL (which I never actually saw, about 800 was the top speed) to a speed now of around 82K download/ 220k (if I'm lucky) upload. This is pathetic to say the least. Currently my connection is down altogether 11/17/00 and has been down for two days.
Technical Support??? - For the most part I have been able to get through to the tech team but generally who I talk to is not the guy/gal who pulls the trigger. I usually run through many hoops and end up with a "let me call you back" response. I believe these guys are using another tier ISP for hosting called Zyan (which you will notice is the lowest rated ISP on the list). Very frustrating. Also don't even bother to call on the weekend, it's just a waste of time.
Email & Website Hosting??? - This has been changed several times without prior notification. Especially the email thing. This changed on me at least three different occasions and basically the only way I find out is that it does not work anymore??? That's not cool. Uploading stuff to my website has also proven laborious. Many times the route in which I put things on the site just changes. I call the tech guys and run through many different things only to realize that they have changed the web server some way or it's on a completely different segment or whatever, UGHHHH!!!!
I am a very dissatisfied customer to say the least. Currently I've been down for a couple of days and to ad insult to injury the tech line now only accepts VOICE MAIL!!! Don't try the sales line either it's the same situation. I had to go to the operator then ask for tech help. Then back to the usual "Recycle your modem, restart, check your IP settings!!!!, Let me call you back" Many many times I feel like a bother rather than a customer.
I would give these guys a 1 1/2 star on a scale of 5 only because they seemed to be trying (up until now) to help me out in some way. Don't go with these guys if you value your connection speed and money.

Wow what a story ordered my NAS 512k SDSL line back in July. David Bruno almost within a week had a date for me. But unfortunately Bell(HELL) Atlantic decided to strike so my date was sent to hell. So after striking i got a date in September, Bell showed but some B.S. on my line so nogo. Bell had 3 appointment's after showed for two. I was ready to throw in the towel but INYC said that they would do everything that they could do. David Bruno came thru like "Superman" with a inside installation date for November 6, 2000. NAS guys showed up on time, and installed, configured my computer, router to work right away. Bottom line is that I don't think this line would have been installed if it was'nt for the INYC TEAM. My thanks again to David Bruno, Steven Bruno and the rest of INYC TEAM.
