iNYC is also known as Intercom Inc

I haven't gone live with my sites yet, so I haven't used it except when I get home from work. Sometimes, there is no service when I try it. The technical support goes home at a certain time and I can't get it fixed until the next day, and sometimes their mailbox is full and you can't leave a message.

I wrote some programs for my company, and I noticed that the throughput was a little slow, I thought it was the toolset (OCX controls) I was using. Now I almost have the email up and ready (and secure), and I've noticed that the patch downloads are really slow and the throughput is not at 2.3 Mbps, but a mere 256 Kbps, (about 1/10th of the speed). I thought it could be my hardware that is acting like a bottleneck until I took the cable from the computer, and put it right in the DSL router, and I couldn't get it past the 256 Kbps.

I wrote load-testing software to test the speed, and I have to write another program to monitor when it goes down so I can review the service. I have to build my business, and I can't spend extra time writing programs, network debugging to find out if my DSL provider is the problem. It's also very upsetting to realize that I've been paying $410 for 256 Kbps speed.

I called Friday night and left a message, and it's now Sunday and I haven't heard anything, and I haven't seen an improvement in the speed.

Man this burns me up, I can't believe they've been paying wholesale for 256Kbps, then charging me resale 2.3Mbps. Nobody knew anything? These guys are thieves.

What can I say? I can't believe I was duped into signing a 2 year contract...What a fool! When Northpoint went under my connection was down for over a month. Still payed them though. I figure I have been without DSL for at least two months if you added it all up. Tech support is never availble on the weekends, and that is usually when I would lose service. Tried to leave them but they threatened to charge me for early cancellation. I even started out with a static IP and was paying $89, now they are sucking $95 dollars from my AMEX and I got a PPPoE! Additionally, I started out with 1.5/384, but now I am lucky to get half that!

Don't make my mistake...Get someone else!

I regret getting INYC.com, the freaking contract is 2 Years!!!.. I would suggest DirecPC for home use.
There were problems w/ this install..

    1. Verizon didn't show up on the first appointment.
    2. Verizon show up 2 days after w/o notifying me for an outside install.
    3. Verizon show up again the following next day, NAS technician saying there were high voltage on my line, Verizon said there is no voltage here, But NAS suz YES.. Verizon pick fun of NAS cause they always do this just to get them out to check for no reason. (GOOD!, nas is damn expensive!)
    4. Sloppy install on the cat 5 running the inside wire.. left it hanging outside.
    5. I ordered 256k for 99.00, but they gaved me 144k .. I mean.. WTF would I want 144k for 99.00dollars.. its stupid.. I would get direcpc rightaway.. for 70dollars. (40direcpc+20verizon line)
    6. NO IPS, GATEWAYS, DNS INFO from INYC.COM when the install was done, had to wait on hold for 30mins then send me to voicemail.

    would not recommend them.

I am waiting for INYC to call me back.. Leave more info later.

I have been a customer of iNYC for the last year and recently the service has not worked for 2 full months. iNYC has NO CLUE why this is happening and cannot tell when or how they will fix it. I am back to modem and dial tone reliability!

About to switch to another provider who owns their network and can at least trace packets on it.

Sales dept was courteous until we sent the signed contract. After that we were unknown in that dept.

After sales / install people were wonderful and kept me updated on the progress. However, we still dont know the speed as iNYC didnt bother to let us know (we had asked for max possible speed)

We had two problems in the last two weeks. One outage of at least 20 mins. (It wasn't our DSL but iNYCs internet connection as traceroute would stop after reaching couple routers in NYC.) Second one was on last Saturday when neither of their DNS would not respond to queries. It would ping ok. Worked ok after I changed the second DNS entry to that of @Work instead of iNYC.

(April 28) Saturday morniing all of our DNS records started resolving to 0.0.0.0 and guess what no tech support over weekend. We can go out to the net but no inbound emails and http access (we host our web servers). Sent emails to support@inyc.com, created two trouble tickets and could not leave messages as the voice mail is full. Still waiting for response from support. No inbound emails or HTTP access to our web hosts.

We had @Work before NP went broke. @Work provides 24 hr / 7 days tech support on phone or email. We never had these issues with @Work> Our luck that we had to go with iNYC due to the NP problem.

In my opinion, iNYC is still small town ISP and *not* nation's premier ISP as they claim. Would not recommend them for business use.

This has to be the WORST ISP I have EVER dealt with. I give them one's
across the board. I mean there tech support is abhorrent and we are a
national TV show. Tech support might get a zero. They gave a faulty router
with bugs in the firmware, they don't return voice mail, etc. Even
Redconnect before it went out of business did better then this

I am one of the "old" INYC user(s) who signed up for the Covad service, and now
INYC is using NAS for its DSL connection. Does anyone know what happen to the Covad lines ? On IYNC's website, they don't even say Covad is having any relationship with the Co. I wonder what they (have done, do, or will do) to my line.
If anyone has any idea, please let me know.

    thanks,

Off of INYC.com's website I found dslreports. I would like to add my
review of their customer service. Back in April, 2000 we ordered
business DSL for our company. The salesman kept checking back with us
until we finally signed the contract. They had a guarantee of service
within a certain timeframe, but once we signed the contract, we never
heard back from them. The salesman would not return emails, and we
finally made a request to cancel service. I contacted them twice,
explaining the situation and my request for refund. Here it is, 8
months later, and I have been wasting my valuable time contacting
American Express over and over trying to clear this up. Although they
never provided us with any equipment, never billed us for any monthly
service and failed to meet their obligation of providing service within
a specific timeframe, they are refusing to issue a refund.

I will never and do not recommend anyone to use there services, as their
practices are deceitful and dishonest. Please give them the lowest
    score possible.

If you want to give a high score to an ISP, please give mine to
    Cloud9.net.

    Thank you.

This review kind of flies in the face of the other reviews posted. I originally was very happy with INYC and have had my SDSL service for 7 months. Even though they could never get my email accounts working ( try this server, now try this one, etc..... ), I was satisfied. Then on December 14, my service stopped in mid-use. My physical connection was fine, but I could no longer ping any outside address. I notified tech support and they confirmed I was down and opened a trouble ticket. Three days later, I spoke with the same tech and he told me he would open a trouble ticket. I mentioned I already had one and would like its status. He said he would call me back, but never did. I then called Steve Bruno, my sales rep and one of the company's owners. He transferred me to the same technician and we went through the same discussion again. Then I started reading about the Northpoint/PSN.NET problems on DSLREPORTS. I called Steve Bruno again to inform him that this could have something to do with my problem. He said it was just "a rumor" and that he has 40-50 accounts with PSN.NET through Northpoint and I was the only one having a problem. Transferred back to tech support........

It is now over two weeks later. I am trying to get my ISP switched to APK.NET so I can have service again. None of my emails or calls are being returned by INYC.COM. Their tech support telephone option goes directly to voice mail.

This is my lesson for using a reseller and not a direct ISP. I'd be interested in knowing how many others have had this same problem.

This is the end of my relationship with the INYC, a very sad one. As everybody knows the North Point is buncrupting. The INYC rep called me a few days ago informing that my service will be down in a couple of days and, therefore, I should look for a new provider. I told him that unfortunatelly it is not so simple. In July 2000 I signed a one year contract according to which I paid $383.00 as the installation fee and agreed to pay $59.00 monthly for the service provided. If I was to terminate the contract prior to the expiration day, I was obliged to pay the monthly charges multiplied by the number of remaining months plus additional fees. Nobody would ever care if I was to loose a job or get ill (they would not care if my emloyer, read the North Point, would be buncrupting or not). I was to be held responsible for the contract anyhow. Now, the INYC is telling me "get lost" and does not even attempt to compansate me in any way. They have a capacity of connecting me to their own network, but, of course, nobody wants to hear about this solution. They are telling me that I would have to pay $99.99 then ( I am just cirious how they handle this problems with the bussines not residentional customers:)). As to MR. POLLAK's posting, I just want to say that it is easy to sell a product promising things, but it is harder to keep up to them. You did not even care to answer my e-mail, not mentioning the necessary in this situation appology. I think that this case deserves to be presented to a customer rights agency:(

I am including this review as a smoth ride just because I think that more people reads it:)
