Update 9/2008.
Moved to a different house 4/2005. This house is far enough west to be wired into the Waukee CO. Have had intermittent problems with line noise since move-in. When the voice line is noisy, the DSL loses it's connection. Qwest has narrowed it down to the voice pair between the CO and the remote, but issue is not consistent enough for them to troubleshoot. After multiple truck rolls, Qwest scheduled a pair change all the way to the CO, to find there are no available pairs. We are stuck with problem until it gets worse, or forever, whichever comes first.

Update 7/2003. Service has been rock solid. Near zero downtime. I would highly recommend Freese-Notis.

Original review 2001
I ordered DSL to replace Mediacom@Home, since I'm not confident of Mediacom's transition to whatever it is they are going to do.

Service is 'Qwest DSL Deluxe' -- "up to" 640 down/256 up.
Monthly charges:
Qwest - $31.95
Freese-Notis - $20.00 (Includes one static IP + 1 mailbox)
$5.00 extra static IP
$1.00 extra mailbox

Time between Qwest order to live connection was exactly as quoted to the day. Ordered through the Qwest DSL website. Only complaint: No notification by email from Qwest that my order was received, line qualified, etc. (an automated email would even work.)
Purchased the Cisco 678 from Qwest at the $95 special price. I did the self-install which was simple except that the included 678 updater program (to update against 'Code Red' vulnerabilities) didn't work, so I manually updated the CBOS using the Terminal.

All in all, a nearly perfect order and install.

I'm very happy with this ISP.
I originally signed up with US West and was very disappointed with the speed and service. Switched to FN and haven't had a complaint since.
I've been in the computer/telecommunications business since ** 1979 ** (Wow I'm old)
I highly recommend this ISP.
Mark
