A while back my wife and I moved into a new apartment and I initially contracted with the local telco to provide us with DSL service. After almost a year and many unhappy experiences with them, I came here and read some reviews on the various providers and ended up talking to Dan over at Oplink.net. They did a "hot swap" on my service so I was never down and the resulting speeds were actually better than what I was getting with the telco (same line, same connection, etc.).
Currently I'm at 1.5Mbs down and 384 Kbs up (would love to have more but it's the location not them) on a dynamic IP. I've had a couple of ocassions to need their help and it's been a great experience to not only speak to a real, live human being but someone who knows their stuff as well!
Oplink.net = Highly Recommended

i am a systems administrator... ive dealt with everything from the small isp's providing point to point frames, to the largest of communications companies offering oc3 connections, and have never had customer service this great.
i was sick and tired of time warner, the line problems (in a brand new home, and have had a lot of problems with someone not knowing how to lay the lines correctly across the lots with time warner) the latency (no level 1 tech at time warner even understands the term) and just general problems across the board. i did enjoy their package that consolidated all my needs into one... but.. when my cable went down, i had no tv, no internet, no phone, no nothing. so i started searching, came across this site, and read the reviews for oplink, and decided to give them a shot.
this was a brand new home, and i didnt have phone service at all, so it took a few more days than the average person... but it was all spent waiting on swb to run the phone line. after the line was in, i literally plugged in the modem that was mailed to me, (and was recieved a week prior) and was online in 5 seconds.
i purchased the 6mb line for $99/month. my speeds at first could have been faster... and i called in to tech support who helped me run through the basics.. the amazing part... they actually knew what they were doing, and i could TALK to them, as opposed to having someone read me canned responses from a queue card. after a couple of weeks of some fluctuating speeds (i was still moving at 4mb... so i was far from a critical problem), they took time out of their schedule (actual tech... not swb, or a delivery service) to run out a replacement modem on a friday night after i got off work.
i couldnt be happier with this company. they have bent over backwards to troubleshoot what OTHER companies would consider a miniscule problem, just to make sure i was happy. in the month that i have been using the service... the line has not dropped once, and their customer service has been the best part of the company by far.
would recommend to anyone.

| just an update i got a lot of questions (in other places) about "how good will they be in a year"?
so... to update. i have been an oplink customer now since sept of 2005, and still love the service. the speeds are good (although, i would still love faster... but i am about as fast as you can get on adsl) the support is amazing, and the service is just flat out great. i added a static ip to my account about a year ago so some of my customers can upload files to me, and that was seamless as well.
i would still rate them today as strongly as i did back then. perfect service. | |

Forget Big Brother. www.oplink.net is where it's at. Believe me. I work on a computer internet company all day and it just can't compare in speed from Oplink. They are the fastest. I used to say it goes there even before I click on it!!! You can email or call anytime of day or night and expect some kind of personal customer service followup. They always keep me posted on down time, and there ain't much of that. I can't say much from a technical standpoint, don't know about it, I'm a layman. But I am sold...!!! : ) Go for it..Oplink.net

Oplink is one of the best ISP I have ever had the priviledge to subscibe to. I used them for quite a long time unitl SBC had some major line issues and could not prive me a connection over about 580Kb Down stream. I switched to TWCHouston which was a major mistake. My service has been out more than it has been online and the customer service was the worst. Moving back to Oplink now has been just a pleasurable dream. I called on Monday and service was active by thursday with modem in-hand by wedenesday. Granted I am still 13000ft from the CO but with technology imporvements I am getting about 1.25Mb Downstream, which is way beeter than nothing with TWC Houston. All in all these guys are excellent! They respond extremely quickly, are very informative and helpfull and bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. Thanks again guys....Its great ot be back!

These guys are the greatest! We found them from the rave reviews on Broadband Reports and began corresponding. I e-mailed them back and forth over the course of a weekend with questions about technology, setup, and pricing, and never waited longer than 45 minutes for an answer. On the weekend. Did I mention that this was, you know, Saturday and Sunday, when most people are out getting toothpaste and going to the movies?
They were right up front about the gaps in their knowledge (they usually deal with PCs) and offered to work with us closely to resolve any difficulties. They sent us a DSL modem which arrived quickly, but was, alas, DOA. They sent another out immediately, and we got it in plenty of time for our service to go live. What can I say? We plugged it in, we turned it on, it worked.
We have experienced not one single outage, no slowdowns, and no problems (other than chucklehead here not knowing what little checkbox to click on my e-mail software). Oplink has spent some quality hand-holding time with my novice self, even offering to call me back way past my bedtime when they got the answer to something I had asked about.
I have heard a lot of horror stories about DSL installation and was most decidedly NOT looking forward to what I was sure would be an absolute nightmare. Oplink's motto should be, "It just works." Sheesh. How much more simple could it be?

I read through the reviews and feedback for Oplink was very positive. Prices were good. I didn't want hassles and ordered DSL service before moving. Ordered on March the 16th, online on the 21st. I spent that weekend moving to the new address. SWB was a day late in transfering my local phone service. Oplink's website had all the info I needed to set up my computer beforehand. DSL service was scheduled to go live on March 24th so it's ahead of schedule. Raw speed isn't as high, but it's the first test and latency was more important to me. I've tested ping times from inside my gaming apps and I am happy.
They are the best DSL ISP I have seen/used so far and I've had plenty of experience of my own and from using other people's/businesses' DSL service. I wish Oplink was a national provider!

I have been a user of RR, AOL DSL (via SBC), and now Oplink.net (also via SBC). I have been the most happy with oplink. Roadrunner had occasional connection drops, usually once a week for an hour or so. AOL DSL was consistent, but slow, very expensive, and customer service was useless. One of the main reasons I went with Oplink to begin with is that they offered a hotswap service from my old provider, meaning I didn't have to have the line deprovisioned then reprovisioned again, which is what SBC told me I would have to do if I wanted to switch to SBC. That was a major point for me, I didn't want any down time at all. So after reading quite a few reviews here (including one horrid review) I decided that I'd give it a try. I initially thought all these good reviews were astroturfing, but during this 6 months I've learned it's not. I have not had a single outage in this entire period. I'm sure some of that is based on the fact that I have good wiring where I live, but it doesn't negate the fact that my connection has been solid as a rock. The only time I had to talk with tech support was right after my connection was setup and I was still set up at 1.5/256 at the dslam instead of 3.0/384(now 512). That problem was fixed in a couple hours and the support via AIM (my preferred method of communication) was amazingly helpful. The only thing I wish they offered was more upstream

I switched from Roadrunner after 5 years because of lack of SMTP relaying. I signed on with Oplink because of the ratings on DSL Reports. Initially after switching I had problems with connection speeds. Upon reporting this to Oplink, they got SBC involved and stayed with the problem until the speed issue was corrected. As the problem was with SBC and of an unusual nature, it took several weeks to understand the issue and get SBC to correct the problem. Since, I have been very satisfied. Given the current state of technical support in the industry as a whole, it is refreshing to deal with a company like Oplink that sees customer service as their top priority. Keep it up!
