why can't I connect "digital audio out" to the input of my outboard Krell dac. (a terrible noise when I try)

the worse cable box I ever used. I have to reboot it every 20 to 30 minutes, which is a terrible thing. the sound goes away after a while or there is no audio at all after you turn it on. shame on you
