The SMC2536W-AG is a versatile high-performance CardBus adapter, its tri-mode, dual-band operation lets notebook PCs connect wirelessly to any of three available wireless networks — 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g that operate in two discrete, non-interfering frequency bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. With the SMC2536W-AG, you have the confidence of knowing you can access whatever wireless network is active. The SMC2536W-AG complies with the 802.11g standard. It is also backwards-compatible with 802.11b compliant devices. The 802.11a wireless standard on the 5 GHz band also transfers up to 108 Mbps in a frequency range that does not interfere with the other standards. Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), 64-/128-/152-bit WEP encryption, and 802.1x, EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP, and LEAP user authentication offer enhanced security, so employees can communicate with colleagues confidentially or access sensitive data.
The SMC2512W-AG provides wireless LAN access to desktop computers with an available PCI slot, it incorporates the SMC2536W-AG on a PCBA.
