For the most part, there are no significant compatibility issues with the Macintosh operating system (OS X) and the Primus TalkBroadband service, with a couple of key exceptions. The MyTalkbroadBand portal relies on ActiveX for some of its functionality. Currently, ActiveX is not functional on the Macintosh platform. As a result, Macintosh users will not be able to:

•use the 'Play to Speaker' option in the Voice Mail tab

•listen to voice mail messages that have been e-mailed to them in the VML format (VML is no longer the default format so this point is more or less moot)

    •utilize the VOISS assistant

These options may appear to be functional according to the options presented in the various portal pages; however, anything that requires ActiveX will not function.

In addition, some browsers (or browser hacks) will allow you to "spoof" the browser with which you are accessing the portal. If, for example, you have set your browser to report itself as Internet Explorer for Windows, you will see a number of ActiveX-only icons or options appear. In spite of the fact that they are now visible/accessible, these functions will still not work on the Macintosh platform.

The last release of Internet Explorer for Macintosh Classic (Mac OS 9.x) did include a version of ActiveX. Unfortunately, even using the portal with that version of Internet Explorer does not render the ActiveX controls operative.
