One of the modems (the RA12) uses a crossover cable, the other modem (RA14 the newest one that are sent out uses a straight line cable). If you look at the bottom of the modem at the end of one of the serial numbers it will say RA12 or Ra14, the way you tell the cable, Hold the two ends next to each other, look at the wires inside, on the crossover cable the colors will be on opposite sides of each end, on the straight line cable they will be identical.
