As of October 17, 2005, the old default of having the Vertical menu on the left side of the screen and the Horizontal tabs along the top of the screen has been changed so that you may have one style or the other -- but not both at the same time.
The new user default is to see the Vertical menu on the left. This can be changed for registered and logged-in users by going to the Members>> Style Prefs/Forum Prefs page and selecting your desired Navigation style. (Page here: »/prof/forums)

The selected style will be used throughout the site.
