got feedback?
I am trying to test my DSL, shoreham.net, by directly connecting to my DSL modem. (I took my router out for a while to test at the request of the ISP). With the router, the test ran fine. With just the modem, I get a very long pause before the test starts. What can I do to remove the long pause?

why are there no servers in the SouthEast? If I go to speakeasy.net directly there is a listing for Atlanta that I can use, but I'd rather do it here so I can automatically record my results. (1 of the reasons I registered)

Sprint Fort Worth Flash test error: "Connection Problems. Please Try Again." Sprint Chicago works fine. Ft. Worth used to work.

I have used the speed tests here for a long time, and have always been a bit concerned that I have gotten different results than other people. I get the most feedback from my boss about this, in that he gets up to 25MB at his home and now 28MB at our office. I have always gotten about 3MB from my home, and the test through here shows about 8 or 9 at the office. I tested twice just now. Both using Speakeasy. One test was via the tool list here on DSLreports. The other one directly at the Speakeasy.net site. Both using the New York site. The Test here showed about 3MB and the test on the Speakeasy.net site showed nearly 6MB. I tested and had similar lop sided results at my office. Is this site doing a proxy of sorts for the test? Is that why I get such dramatic differences? Mark

This test incorrectly plots the last download speed (in the graph shown). It looks like it subtracts 10MB or else plots only the 4 least signif digits of the download speed

I finally figured out what the colors mean (current availability of testing servers - no answer in FAQ) but I don't understand the distances. I'm within "spitting distance" (oh well, I can't spit ~15 miles, but still) of Los Angeles, yet the distance given for the server(s) is ~2053 miles. The idea was to pick the server(s) geographically closest to you (me,) but by whose calculation?

My browser (Opera 9.64) shows "Your ISP shows signs of upload compression". What does this mean?

San Francisco server doesn't work for me. Other servers work fine with Flash test. SF server Flash test hangs at server latency test.

Been having this issue for 6 months on Safari. Flash version 10 is installed. It loads the graphics but never initiates the test??? Running a MacPro with latest operating System.

Megapath San Francisco fails to load (flash version) says connection problems. Been doing this for weeks now. I'm in Sacramento, CA

Firefox 4 seems to have difficulty with the flash based test. The test crashes or is sluggish and unresponsive. The test will also yield incorrect speed results. Switching back to Firefox 3 the issue disappears and speeds are normal.

Have the target servers had the Flash Cross Domain Policy Server activited? If not, connections will not activate correctly (sometimes they start then hang, other times they won't even start.) Also, if they are running on the servers, they require post 843 to be open between server and client. May not be the issue, but it sure looks like a problem I've bumped into a couple times now.

IE9, Win7, Flash10 Verification works fine - but whenever I try to test, it says I have connection problems. I am able to browse, stream, uld and dld - really I can do everything on the internet BUT this speed test. I've used this site for years and years, even this computer with this setup. Not sure what the problem is - possible the location of the server I am trying to use? (San Fran) Been like this for days
