Wikipedia defines IRC Clients as follows:
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of instant communication over the Internet. It is mainly designed for group (many-to-many) communication in discussion forums called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication.
Recently we held a
poll in the Software forum to determine what IRC client most people use and here are the results:
1st was
mIRC with 115 votes which was 34.7%
2nd was none with 43 votes and 12.9%
There is an explanation for that. In the early years of the Internet IRC was the only method of communication and after the invention of IM (Instant Messaging) it rendered IRC useless as a chat program.
3rd was
XChat with 25 votes and 7.5%
