For the first time we held a Compression Utilities Member Poll. In 2008, the top program was WinRAR

The poll can be found here »[POLL] Compresssion Utilities - 2008 Member Choice Poll

WinRar, a Shareware program which can be used beyond the trial period, won first place with 193 votes (38.9%). WinRar supports and is not limited to the following formats: ZIP, TAR, GZ, BZ/BZ2, 7z, RAR, LHA, ACE, ARJ, CAB, and ISO images.

7-zip came in second with 82 votes (16.5%).

WinZip placed third.

There were 496 votes from 392 participants so there’s a decent group of people who still use a combination of 2 or more compression utilities. The general consensus is that a compression utility is needed nowadays with the increasing size on files. Only two people said they did not use compression utilities.
