Maximum for the BOINC client is 10 days (Fine for quads/ not great for others as they may face completion deadlines) Dualies fare well on 5 days All others 2-3 days set is average To increase your cache Open the client in Advanced View At the top toolbar - by File /View /Tools /Activity/ Advanced - click Advanced Go to Preferences Under the Network Usage tab in the new box - you can set "additional work buffer".
