IF you qualify, you may order any combination of IPTV, Internet and Voice. However Voice service cannot (normally) be ordered by itself, it MUST (almost always) be bundled with one or more U-Verse products.

IF you are "porting" your home phone number from another carrier (as in you have an existing home phone number, on any carrier such as AT&T POTS, Vonage, Comcast, TWC, Charter, etc) and wish to keep that same number on U-Verse Voice VoIP, DO NOT cancel your existing service with your previous/current provider. Once a phone account is canceled, your "claim" to that phone number evaporates, and the number returns to the available pool of its original provider, or long story short you will not be able to keep that same number any more.

As a general rule, AT&T does not recommend cancelling any existing services prior to having U-Verse installed, simply to ensure that the installation will be doable and successful, and therefore not leave you "without" service during the transition, should there be any unexpected delays in getting your service installed.

That being said, there is a special case where you must have a previous service disconnected before ordering U-Verse: If you have an existing CLEC/non-AT&T DSL service (ie Sonic, DSLExtreme, etc), that service MUST be canceled before ording AT&T U-Verse, and AT&T records must reflect that the service has been canceled before the U-Verse order will be allowed. In this special case, there will be a window of time from the canceled non-AT&T DSL until U-Verse Internet can be installed
