What does the CAS of memory do? (#2400)
CAS is the latency of the memory. The CAS of the memory module only affects the initial burst of data that it sends. In other words once the memory gets going it will not affect the performance that much. Also the higher the number (ex. CAS 3) the slower it is. For example CAS 3 (or CL=3) memory is slower than CAS 2 (CL=2) memory. Also the lower the CAS number is the more memory bandwidth. For example if your memory is originally CAS 3 and you set it to CAS 2 then it will be able to transfer data faster.
