Central Office (CO): It is the physical building where the local telephone switching equipment is located. All telephone lines in a town lead to the CO. Remote Terminal (RT): An RT is a piece of switching/routing equipment that leads back to the CO. They are generally connected by a fiber optic line, but older RTs used T1 lines to connect back to the CO. It's a method of virtually extending the CO equipment out into areas beyond the servicable radius of the CO dslams. got feedback? by Thin1 edited by MrFixitCT |
