There are two way to backup the registry:

1) You can use the export function in the System Registry Editor.

2) You do this manually in the registry:
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Control\HiveList\ with the System Registry Editor. It shows you the locations of all the files that make up the registry on your PC. Make copies of NTUSER.DAT, USRCLASS.DAT, and all the hive files to create a full backup.
