on smc SMC2755W access point and SMC2735W nic tried to select mac access control, shared, and 128bit. couldn't connect. went thru several layers of support at smc who first thought it was a driver problem, but then told me you have to choose "open" if you use mac control.

(btw, then called linksys about their wap 11 and wpc11 ver 1, and they confirmed that same deal: cant have "shared" w "mac" . they thought that was better security than "shared" without mac.
