SBC's SMTP servers now require username/password authentication, which means you can use them from any connection anywhere. It doesnt matter what your email domain is, and in fact you may
have to use the SBC SMTP servers from your DSL connection due to the port 25 filter which is on most dynamic IP accounts. This is a spam-prevention measure which provides some security for the server, and ensures that mail sent through them only originates from SBC accountholders.
You can send mail with any domain name you like, as set up in your mail client. Outgoing mail is not limited to just the "@ameritech.net" domain, as some ISPs are now doing.
