A number of things. 1) Dedicated "LINK" sites - The most important difference would be the "Link" websites. These sites are the easiest way to find what you are looking for. Not only does it make searching easier but you can rest assured that 99.99% of the links on those sites will allow you to d/l the file your looking for. There are no misnamed files, no undersized files and no rips (unless specifically stated). Cant find anything you like on the main pages of a "link" site? No problem, most "link" sites have a forum where you can search for a file or request a file. 2) File Hashing - basically the donkey doesn't find a file by name. Any file being shared on the donkey is checked and "hashed". eDonkey doesn't look for files by name but rather by hash. This helps in avoiding misnamed files. 3) Chunk Sharing - The donkey allows users to share "chunks" of data. In other words a user does not need to have the whole file in order to share it. As a user d/'s a file that portion becomes shared so other users can d/l it.
