In the last few years SBC has implemented port 25 (SMTP) blocks in various regions of the country to try to combat Spam email. For example - SBC/Ameritech (»Ameritech - SBC FAQ »Does ameritech block any ports? (Update 08/16/2005)) - and this may extend to other areas over time.

If you feel you are being blocked you should first check your own firewalls or routers. You can then try the Telnet test found here: »Ameritech - SBC FAQ »The Telnet Test for SMTP Server Connectivity
