Windows XP:
To avoid using the AOL Client, Windows XP users are now able to utilize the native PPPoE connection in XP. To do this, simply run Network Connections from the Start Menu.

*The screen name being used must be a General account*



Under Network Connections, click on Create a New Connection



Simply click Next



Select Connect to the Internet and click Next



Select Setup my connection manually and click Next



Select Connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and password and click Next



Type in any name you wish. AOL DSL is typed for demonstration purposes only.



Now type in your screen name followed by: @aol.com. Then your AOL password. You may toggle settings here to your desire.



Add a shortcut if you wish to the desktop for ease of use.



Toggle settings here if you wish to. WARNING! do not change anything in the PROPERTIES TAB! They're for Advanced Users ONLY.
Now Press connect.



*Note: Please make sure that your username and password are purely made up of letters and numbers, all in lowercase. Spaces are NOT acceptable!*

Also, please confirm that your MTU is set to 1400 bytes on your NIC.

To check, Download DR TCP to your desktop, run DrTCP and see if you NIC is set to 1400. If not, set it to 1400 bytes, hit save, exit, and reboot.

*Note: Please make sure that your username and password are purely made up of letters and numbers, all in lowercase. Passwords must NOT exceed 8 characters in length. Spaces are NOT acceptable!*
