is an acronym for Wireless Access Point. WAPs are used to bridge a standard wired network to a wireless network. WAPs are not the same as Wireless Routers because WAPs do not provide NAT or DHCP capabilities and must be used in conjunction with a standard router if more than one computer is to be networked.
