Per January the 5th of 2005, the Lifemapper Distributed Computing project has been halted:

quote:
Lifemapper was once a Distributed Computing project. We had Members help us out with the CPU-intensive process of computing biological distribution models by downloading our screensaver and doing some number crunching for us. Lifemapper's Members could gather together into Groups. These Groups typically shared common interests and goals. For example, the Kansas Birdwatchers' Group was a fun way for Kansas bird fans to meet each other and help the Lifemapper project.

The Lifemapper project will however continue in a different form and can still be found here:

The BBR Ecology team computed an amazing number of 451841 models during the time this project was active. For historical reasons, the final standings and statistics can be found right here.

Thanks to everyone who participated! :)
