Stop! You should highly consider installing version 2.3.0(7) Firmware before continuing (you can safely use version 2.3.0(2) or version 2.3.0(6) if the 2.3.0(7) version gives you problems). Make sure that you are running at least the version 2.3.0(2) or newer now or that it is already installed before following this guide. Otherwise you may have continued connection issues:

After verifying the Firmware version or updating the Firmware then continue here:

The Web Interface is HERE and you need to first setup your 5660 to connect to your ISP using your Username and Password along with the correct VPI/VCI pair supplied by your ISP. Fill in the needed info on the Simple Setup page then click "Set" to save these changes.

The 5660 is not password protected from the factory so you may want to set a password to prevent others from altering your settings when completed. That is done HERE.

The next thing you need to set is the MaxMTU on all LAN PCs (PPPoE only, skip this if you are PPPoA). It needs to be 1454 or 1492 depending on your ping test results on a PPPoE connection. Details are HERE. Download DR. TCP from HERE to make the changes for you. All LAN PC's should use the exact same settings.

You will want a larger RWIN like 37752 which DR. TCP can set for you. This one setting will help you obtain the best speeds from your DSL. Download DR. TCP from HERE.

Now enter your DNS numbers (provided by your ISP) HERE and HERE (enter the Primary DNS server IP there.) Contact your ISP for their DNS IP addresses if you are unsure.

Next check the Primary DNS IP Address (should be 10.0.0.1) and the Secondary DNS IP Address (can be any external DNS server IP from your ISP) that are listed HERE are correct. It helps to change the Lease Time from "Infinite time" to 1440 or 2880 on the "Lease Time (mins)" setting (last item on page). Leave the rest of the settings alone, click "Set New Values" to save the changes and reboot the 5660 if prompted.

DNS, DHCP and NAPT should be Enabled, RIP and IP Filter Mode should be Disabled (when NAPT is Enabled) and the rest of the 5660 settings should be left at their defaults. The Host Name and the Domain Name must not be altered and if you have changed them you must put back the default values of:

Host Name SpeedStream
Domain Name domain.invalid
