1.4 Avatar Upload Troubleshooting

·Uploading your avatar
·I've uploaded my Avatar, how come it still doesn't show?
·I try to go to the Avatar upload page, but I get sent to the FAQs, why?
·I'm using the Opera browser and my avatar won't upload correctly
Once you have found an avatar you like resized by the helpers or modified to your liking, then right click and and choose to save it. Save it to your desktop for easy finding.

Next, go to the Avatar page and click Browse..., select your avatar, and then click on Upload!.

Your avatar will have to be approved by a moderator before you can use it; you will get a system message saying whether it was approved or not. When it gets approved, it will take about 5 - 20 minutes until all the servers update and show your avatar.

Avatars are not automatically put "into circulation" when uploaded. They must first be approved by a moderator so that inappropriate avatars are not made public.

Depending on how many moderators are online at any given time, it may take a while for your avatar to be approved. The majority are approved within an hour of uploading, usually much faster. Once approved, avatars are mirrored or uploaded to other Broadband Reports servers.

Sometimes it may be necessary to clear or flush your browser's cache to see the new avatar. Your browser's cache can contain copies of web pages, so you may be viewing that old copy of the page and the avatar. One option to force a reload of the web page is to perform a "Shift+Refresh" - hold down the SHIFT key and click on the REFRESH or RELOAD button on your browser's screen. If you use Internet Explorer, you can also perform a "CTRL+F5" - hold down the CTRL key and push the F5 button.

From now on when avatars are approved or denied, you will get an instant message from 'system'. So no more wondering.

Nonetheless, please allow plenty of time for the avatar files to be mirrored or uploaded to the other Broadband Reports servers before asking where your avatar is.

A. You have to have visitedSite FAQ »How are visits counted?) the site for a week or more.

B. Posted 5 times or more to the forums in answer to someone's question.

C. Logged in using your random allocated (emailed) password at least once (i.e, your account is not marked as temporary). This is necessary to validate your email address. If you cannot remember receiving a temporary password, please use forgot password to get all info back to your mailbox.

D. Check date Joined on "My/Page" and "Forum Posts" to find if you qualify for an avatar yet.

For some reason, Opera users sometimes have difficulty uploading avatars and other images to DSLR. Try using Internet Explorer or another browser for the upload. Once the avatar is uploaded, you can resume using Opera.
