1.5 Forum Info

The DSLReports AT&T Southeast Forum is a customer information resource for the AT&T Southeast DSL Internet service. It's a place where users of the AT&T Southeast service can ask questions, share ideas, and exchange and gather information, but anyone is welcome in the forum.

There aren't a lot of rules relative to posting in the AT&T Southeast Forum.
However, the one that will be referred to most frequently is this:
Do not get personal!
If someone posts something that irritates you, resist the urge to respond in kind. Doing so only causes the discussion to degenerate and eventually deprives us all of the benefits of a good thread.

When you stoop to return a flame, it puts you in the same light as the poster you're responding to. It is far better to ignore it and move on, or avail yourself of the "hey mod" link and let us take care of it. That's what we're here for.

In most cases, you will be asked nicely to edit your post or to cease the flames. After that, it will be done for you.

Thank you everyone for your cooperation. It makes the forum a much better place.

First, please use common courtesy and remember the basic guidelines:
1. Please do not hijack another thread. Even if your issue sounds the same or similar many problems like line issues, slow speeds, frequent disconnects, and synch issues are line specific and must be handled individually.
2. Any questions or requests for help should be posted in the forum itself. Please refrain from IM'ing (Instant Message) or emailing them directly to other members unless specifically asked to.

Now that you are ready, you should include the following information in your post:
Describe your basic problem
Type of FastAccess Service (DSL, IFITL, or DFITL)
Type and model of modem (if applicable)
Connectivity (USB or Ethernet)
Router type and model (if applicable)
Type of computer(s) and OS version(s)
Any firewall/antivirus software (if applicable)
What troubleshooting you have already done (if any)

For common issues check the FastAccess FAQ. Some quick links are listed below:

Windows Vista has a built in PPPoE client. This eliminates the needs to load a third party client (Enternet300, RAS, etc) on to your computer if you do not use a modem or router with a PPPoE client. Use the following steps to configure a PPPoE connection using the native Windows Vista client:

  1. Click on Start then Control Panel
  2. Click on the Network and Internet icon
  3. Click on Network and Sharing Center icon
  4. Click on Setup a connection or network on the left task pane.
  5. Click Connect to the Internet and click Next.
  6. Select Broadband (PPPoE).
  7. Enter your User name (followed by the domain) and Password.
  8. Create a Connection Name to identify this specific connection.
  9. Select Allow other people to use this connection if you want all users that use the PC to access this connection.
  10. Click Connect.
  11. You should get a confirmation if you have successfully established a connection. If you do not get the confirmation make sure your username and password are correct. The username format must include the domain (i.e. username@bellsouth.net).
