The photos in the New England logos are contributed by the visitors to the New England Forum. If you'd like to add your photo to the logo collection the only requirement is that the photo must have been taken in New England.
Here's how you do it:
• Upload a picture into the New England Photo Album with a description which includes where it was taken. Be sure to include the name of the state where the photo was taken. Notify the moderator you'd like the photo added to the logos. The moderator or some other forum member will play with it to make a logo from it.
OR
• You can make a logo yourself and upload it to the photo album or the Forum Logos topic. If you go this route the image size can't be any larger than 130x90 pixels and your description must include the name of the state where the photo was taken.
Here is the logo thread:

State Name origin - Connecticut was an established name early in the 1600's in particular reference to the Connecticut River. The word itself was translated from the Indian name "Quinnehtukqut" and means "beside the long tidal river."
Nickname - The Constitution State: (Official) John Fiske, the historian, claimed that The Fundamental Orders of 1638-39 comprised the first written constitution in history. Though this claim has been disputed by some, it remains a landmark document. It is thought that many of the features of the Federal Constitution were drawn from this document. The General Assembly designated Connecticut "The Constitution State" in 1959.
Residents - People who live in Connecticut or who come from Connecticut are called Connecticuters. In 1702, Cotton Mather referred to Connecticuters as Connecticotians. Samual Peters referred to Connecticutensians. Nicknames for Connecticuters include Nutmegs or Nutmeggers.

State Name origin - It is really not known how the name for this state originated. One theory suggests that the state was named by French colonists after the French province of Mayne. Another mentions that "Main" was a common term to describe a mainland.
Nickname - The Pine Tree State: This common nickname for Maine is given because of the extensive pine forests that have covered the state. The White Pine is considered to be the largest conifer in the northeastern United States and some of the tallest trees in eastern North America grew in Maine. The White Pine has played an important part in the history of Maine and has been afforded appropriate recognition. In the early days of colonization, the tall White Pines of Maine were valued for ship's masts.
Residents - People who live in or come from Maine are called Mainers. Variants of this are Maine Staters and State of Mainers. You may also hear Mainers referred to as Down Easters (because of the eastern longitudes of the state).
Official State Symbols

The old John Hancock Building in Boston is topped by a weather beacon with red and blue lights, which use a code to present the local weather forecast, using a popular rhyme as a mnemonic:
Steady blue, clear view. Flashing blue, clouds due or changes due. Steady red, rain ahead. Flashing red, snow instead.
During baseball season, flashing red means the Boston Red Sox game has been called off on account of weather.
