If your modem worked with another companies service like AT&T or Verizon, it is likely that it will work with DSLExtreme unless it has been locked to only work on their network. You can use a router without having to pay extra money for IPs or violating DSLX terms of service. You can run your own HTTP/FTP or any server you want (assuming it's not against the law). This is a main difference between DSLX, SBC/Verizon and some cable providers. Static plans usually come with 3 IPs and dynamic IP plans come with 5. You can check exactly how many IPs come with your plan by looking on your bill or contacting DSL Extreme. by Bill DSL Extreme gives every user 2 connections at 256Kbps (Total of 512Kbps, when using both connections) to Supernews. You can make up to 10 different email accounts (each with 100MB of storage). Every mail account also comes with its own personal webpage. If you'd like to turn the spam filter off, you can do that also. 5.0 Setup

Wow. I get much snappier results with these DNS servers hard-coded in my router than with the default settings. Overall speed in the tools section has improved dramatically. Thanks for the tip! 2008-12-10 03:09:17 by Bill For your username: Use your main DSLX account username. The reverse DNS tool, which can be found under the My Account section of DSLX's website, allows clients with static IP addresses to easily manage and change the reverse DNS record for their static IP addresses. This feature is for FREE to all static IP clients! To manage your Reverse DNS simply login to the My Account section of our website and select the “Details” button next to your static IP address. From there select the edit button to modify your reverse DNS entry. It takes 24 to 48 hours for the change to take effect. The reverse record is what your IP resolves to when you do a look up on your IP. If you are running a mail server you want to have your IP address reverse to your domain name. Often times spam checkers will check to see if the reverse record matches the forward record. If it does not the checker will mark the message as spam. There is some more information in the Reverse DNS Wiki.
by Bill Be sure to stay within your account limits, or you'll be charged extra money per month for every IP you go over. It discusses different options. Either plugging every user into a hub/switch and having them use PPoE software, or using 2 different routers plugged into the hub/switch. by Bill Information on setup can be found here. by Bill by Bill 6.0 Account Troubles

Make sure you've installed filters on every phone jack that is being used. Devices that need filters include phones, alarm systems, TV systems (ones that use a phone jack to dial PPV). (Note: Read the bottom of the page: "You may not qualify for all subscriptions above. Subcriptions listed are for your entire Network, all changes are pending qualification.") by Bill »www.dslextreme.com/support/networkstatus by Bill Vist the referral program page for more info. Basically, when someone signs up for DSL Extreme, there's an option for a referers username. (Make sure to give them your main username, not sub-account) Your account will be credited for the ammount the refere's plan costs per month. Example: If Bob tells Joe about DSL Extreme, and Joe signs up for a $30 a month plan, Bob will get $30 credit to his account. You should see the credit in the following billing cycle. If the credit seems to have not gone through, contact DSL Extreme to see what happened.
