Some songs will error out because the user you were download from terminated his connection. Other times it can happen because of the many types of unpredictable things that people do to make their computers and computer networks more secure. If you have never successfully downloaded a song over the SongSpy network it may be safe to assume that the properties of your network interface aren't standard issue. If this is the case, and the various program options don't help, you might try using another service.

The answer to this question is "SpyLists". The SpyLists tab lets you enter a username to retrieve their list of songs. The same feature is available from the Search and Transfer tabs by right-clicking on listed songs. If you are or the other user are behind strange network configurations, the retrieval process will often time out.
