1. Introduction

What is the Hot Deals Forum?

This forum is for users to post a hot deal they have found on the web or a local store that they think might interest other members.

2. What qualifies as a Hot Deal?

Just what is a hot deal?

Anything which offers you savings over the retail price. Free is always good, significantly discounted is quite acceptable also. If any other inducements are being offered by retailer (free extended warranties, free gift certificates etc), feel free to share those also.

What information should I include when I post a deal?

Try to include as much detail as possible in the title. Then expand on it in your post. General info to provide: expiration date of the coupon, minimum purchase requirements, site link, shipping and handling costs, and the coupon code. The more information you include, the better. Follow up if possible, so you can edit your post to include new developments. Be careful when using dashes in your post, they can make it seem like you are getting paid in the deal. (ie, .... chair -$59)

Ebay Auctions

We have no way of knowing whether you are/aren't the seller. If you want to help someone find something on ebay - post a link to the general search, or tell them what keywords to use when searching.

3. Posting Guidelines

What are the posting guidelines for this forum?

In addition to the posting rules for this site, the following is provided:

IT IS NOT A CHAT FORUM to discuss how good the product is, or how well it performs, we have other forums here at DSLR for you to do that.

•There will be absolutely NO thread crapping. If someone posts a Hot Deal for a Canon scanner, thou shalt not chime in with HP is better.

•Please DO NOT vote up a thread. Threads in this forum are not archive worthy, as they are useless once the deal is over. However, feel free to use the thumbs up to show approval for a particular poster.

•If you have a question about obtaining the item, or are having problems finding the deal, by all means post a question. But leave the chit chat, I'm running down to the store to get one right now and the "me too's" out of it.

•As for products you purchased as a direct result of a post you read here, if you received a rebate, or have a question on a rebate, START A NEW THREAD, with a link to the original, instead of bumping up the old thread. Also, make sure you put [OT] in front of the topic title so everyone knows that your post isn't a "hot deal".

•There are many other forums on DSLR that are for the technical discussion of computers and related equipment. Those forums should be utilized to make an informed decision regarding a purchase. The Hot Deals Forum is NOT the forum for such discussions.

•Posts that do not fall under the posting guidelines of this forum are at risk of being deleted at the discretion of the forum hosts.

•The decision to lock a thread is not treated lightly by moderators and the reasoning is NOT OPEN FOR DISCUSSION, it's usually pretty obvious if you've read the forum guidelines

•No referral code's embedded in links. Referrals raise questions about the reason for a post, and offer a personal gain off other's purchase.

•When possible please make sure to include all relevant data in the subject line such as price, rebate information, etc. Here's an example:
    Refurb Henway $19.95 @ Compusa A/R S/F

•Please do not use TinyURL, or any other type of forwarding URL service that hides the original URL.

Reposts

If you spot a repost, provide a link to the original post.
Use ModAlert to report the post to the moderators.

If your post is hailed as a repost, don't be discouraged. Better luck next time!

What is a Price Match (PM)?

Some retailers will let you buy an item at the (lower) price that a competitor is charging. Exact policies vary by store. Many stores or sales reps don't follow the policies to the letter, which could be an advantage or a disadvantage to the customer. Since the implementation of PM policies are inconsistent, all deals involving a pricematch are your mileage may vary (YMMV).

What is Best Value Guarantee (BVG)?

American Express's price matching program available on some AMEX cards. Buy an item with your card and if you see it advertised in print for less within 60 days, AMEX will refund you the difference. For more details, search the forums for BVG. You should read through a deal involving BVG before asking questions.

Found a deal that was posted as dead but is alive?

Do not create new threads to inform that another deal is still available. Replying to the original thread will bump it up to the top of the list.

5. Rebate Software

Is there a program out there to keep track of my rebates?

Yes! Rebate! Rebate! is a freeware (formerly $14.99) Windows-based program you can use to track your rebate mailings. You've probably experienced the frustration of trying to track rebates manually, or worse yet, not tracking your rebates at all and just hoping that you'll receive the money you're due. Have you ever had a feeling of resignation when dropping a rebate request into the mailbox...will you ever see the money? How do you know which rebates you've received payment for? We've had the same questions, and Rebate! Rebate! is our answer.

Moderator note: This is not our endorsement of the program or verification of any claims that it makes. This is simply a site member's recommendation. Thank you.

What Can Rebate! Rebate! Tell Me?

**When you mailed a rebate request

**How much money you 're expecting to receive

**When your rebates are overdue

**How much you actually paid for items after rebate, coupons, and postage costs are deducted

**Which rebates are still pending

**How much money you saved using rebates

**and more...

Where can I download Rebate! Rebate! ?

You can download Rebate! Rebate! from PcWorld at »www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_d···1,00.asp
