7.0 SBC Express CD

The "Enable Broadband Performance" seems to only a make a change the RWIN to 65535. This was added to make modifications to one of the computer's most important tcp/ip settings without manually editing the registry. It would be better to use Dr. TCP to modify your RWIN to a lower number, retest your speed until it's optimal.

When you are having problems with the SBC Express CD not properly installing your equipment it's best not to run the CD's installation program. The SBC Express CD installs the Kingston Ethernet adapter and the Speedstream 4060 modem.

Be sure to have a copy of your Windows CD before attempting to install your equipment.

If you plan on not using the Kingston NIC, then you don't need the CD at all since the Speedstream 5260/5262 and Westell Wirespeed uses firmware.

If you plan on using the Kingston NIC, check the device manager for the "Kingston ethernet" adapter in the "Network Adapters" section or "PCI Ethernet Controller" in the "Other Devices" section. If it has a red cross or yellow splat on it, highlight the adapter, click "remove", click "close", and reboot the PC. The Add New Hardware Wizard will start, choose "search for the best driver", choose "CD-ROM" or "Removable Media" for location, insert the SBC Express CD, click "Next". If it cannot find the drivers on the SBC Express CD, be sure to check the path it is searching and verify it points to the CD-ROM drive. Insert your Windows CD if it asks for it. If it says "File being copied is older than file on system, do you want to keep the existing file?", click on "Yes to all". Reboot PC.

If you are installing the 4060 modem, check the device manager for the "4060" adapter in the "Network Adapters" section or "USB device" in the "Other Devices" section. If it says "File being copied is older than file on system, do you want to keep the existing file?", click on "Yes to all". Reboot PC.

You will still need to install the Enternet 300 software from your ISP.

A: No. The CD is not necessary.

The CD installs a lot of software on your machine, none of which is really needed to access SBC Yahoo! services. SBC Yahoo! works from any browser. And SBC Yahoo! DSL service uses the industry standard PPPoE protocol, already built into many operating systems and routers.

The basic secret is to login as "sbcyahooreg@sbcglobal.net" with password "sbcyahooreg" on the first session. Once you have this temporary login, you can create a permanent login name and password.
