2.6 - Member Recommended Restaurants
10786 S Federal Hwy Port St Lucie FL 772 335-3616 This is Italian dining at its finest, bar none. Since the first time I went there some 14 years ago I have never ever had to use a knife to cut their veal parmigiana. Their osso bucco is to absolutely die for. If you are up for just spaghetti and meat sauce or meat balls, that too is fantastic. Casa Stefano is a small family owned and run restaurant. Stefano does all the cooking and his wife runs the dining room. Extremely rare is the occasion when Stefano does not come out from the kitchen to say hello and ask how your dinner was. As with most restaurants in the area, dress is as you please, from casual, as in shorts, to dressed to the nines. Casa Stefano is all about great food and very reasonable prices. Sorry though, they do not serve pizza, but do have beer and wine.

Bubbalou's Bodacious BAR-B-QUE is a local favorite, but can be a bit spotty now and then. ( »www.bubbalous.com/ ) The Kirkman Rd/Universal Studios location is about 15 minutes from Disney. One of my favorites is Cecil's Texas Style Bar-B-Q. There's a location nearby which was recently featured on Al Roker's show. It has the added benefit of being a favorite of the local Sheriff's office, so there's usually armed security. :) »www.cecilsbbq.com/ (Orange Ave. location ... about 20 minuts from Disney, south of downtown). If you want to stay close to Disney, but leave the property, you have a huge number of options within 5 miles. If you haven't been to a Bahama Breeze (location: »www.bahamabreeze.com/ ) yet, they're fun. The prices are reasonable, the food is good, and it's like a quick trip to the islands. It's a favorite in my household. It's brought to you by Darden, the folks behind Olive Garden and Red Lobster, but don't let that scare you away. Additionally, there are a number of chains and some decent buffets on International Drive. Keep in mind that that's the tourist area and is frequently very crowded. Severe traffic jams are not uncommon. Since it's Orlando's tourist trap, quality and service of restaurants in that area can be spotty. It's generally best to avoid that whole mess if you can.

But so are the prices. I've never eaten there, but know people who have. Expect to pay $100/person or more if you have fancy wine. One step down at the same hotel, and nearly as elegant, is Citrico's (»disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/di···ningPage ). The parks also offer various restaurants, but you'll need to pay park admission to eat there. EPCOT has great restaurants featuring cuisine from around the world (»disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/di···tingPage ). The secret is that the restaurants are actually owned and staffed by people from the native countries, so the food is authentic and excellent. They're all a bit pricey (I had a $60 lunch with my wife in Morocco once) but totally worth it. If you're fans of a specific cuisine ... Mexican, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Moroccan, and even Canadian (steaks and other meats) they're all great. Yes, I've eaten at all of them and recommend them with equal enthusiasm. If you're going to have a special dinner at an EPCOT restaurant, make reservations. And if I was spending the day at EPCOT and could pick anything for lunch and dinner it would be sushi at the Japanese restaurant for lunch (»disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/di···ningPage ) and dinner in Germany (»disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/di···ningPage ). Great beers and plenty of sausages. Fulton's Crab House in Downtown Disney (»disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/di···ningPage ) has fantastic seafood. Friendly service and good food. The place looks like it was transplanted from Mulberry Street, and between the music, wait staff and decor, truly feels like it as well. Portions are more than generous, and prices are quite reasonable. The food and the attention to detail was truly excellent. As a plus for the addicts around here, there's free internet access. The picture is of the display calzone- the real one is just as large and tempting.

Fast service by great people generous servings and excellent prices are to be found here. Of course, I'm completely biased and think every restaurant should be Margaritaville. However, if you really need other options, City Walk is chock full of wonderful theme-based restaurants such as Nascar, NBA, Hard Rock Cafe and Bob Marley - A Tribute to Freedom. All are definitely worth checking out and there is always ample parking in the City Walk garage.
got feedback?by ergibbs Orlando Ale House....a great sports bar with probably 50 feet of combined television space. I made it in there the night of a big UFC fight, so there was a $5 cover just to get in, and the place was standing room only. I did go back a second time and actually got a booth, and eventually made my way over to the bar. Staff is friendly, cost is reasonable, food is good, atmosphere is great. Charley's Steak House: When I first heard about this place from an uber-awesome cabbie, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The place is definitely upscale, but they encourage casual dress. They age and cut all of their beef in house. They serve a master cut 50 ounce porterhouse monster that was absolutely delicious. They are also a rare establishment to offer a certified USDA Prime 20 ounce Filet Mignon. As a connoisseur of beef, this place was definitely deserving of their number one steak house in the country award. They even have brochures in the waiting area to prove it. The owner and namesake of this restaurant also founded the Red Lobster chain, and headed that up for several years before he sold it off to General Mills. Tip: make reservations. »www.talkofthetownrestaurants.com···eys.html Four Rivers Smokehouse: A little outside the International Drive area, located in Winter Park near UCF, is a phenomenal barbecue joint. Turns out the owner used to smoke meats in his backyard for friends/charities/parties, then got it in his head to open a restaurant gig. Couldn't have made a better decision. On the outside, it looks like a small time restaurant with a small ordering area and outdoor seating. Don't judge a book by its cover. Once you decide to eat there, have fun finding a parking spot. Four Rivers made a deal with an adjacent church to allow them to use their parking area during the week. Since the smokehouse is closed on sundays, it doesn't seem to be an issue. The line is constantly out the door, and with just 6 or 7 outdoor picnic tables, you're sure to meet someone you didn't know before. All while enjoying some top notch meat. They tease you too. The seating area sits right next to the smoker, so you get the strong smell while eating to enhance the experience. Be sure to buy a bottle of their homemade barbecue sauce to take home too. I won't lie, this was probably my favorite place in Orlando. I bought a pound and a half of their pulled pork, with a bottle of their barbecue sauce to take back to Alaska with me to share. Turns out they will open up online ordering too, shortly. Tip: you can call in orders ahead of time if you know what you're looking for. Menu can be found online at »www.4rbbq.com/ Vito's Chop House: Like Charley's, Vito's ages and cuts all of their meat in house. Unlike Charley's though, they also offer prime cuts of pork, and lamb as well. Vito's definitely specializes in the Italian style of meat preparation and cooking. Not a bad thing, but not what I was expecting right out of the gate. Their wine list is about as thick as a novel, something like 1,200+ wines readily available by the glass, bottle, or half-bottle. Pretty succulent stuff. I had the ribeye, cooked medium, and to perfection. Steak comes with a salad, potatoes are considered an extra side, which I consider to be a cardinal sin. At Charley's, certain steaks were advertised as a la carte, where all sides are extra, but most of their "normal" cuts game with some form of starch. Slightly disappointing. The dining room was very dimly lit, and the atmosphere very calm, almost like you are actually at a winery. Tip: Take the waiter's advice on wine pairings, I didn't think a Cabernet would have went well with my particular meal, but I'm over 4,000 miles away now, and I still stand (read, sit) corrected. »www.talkofthetownrestaurants.com/
