News Groups

Vancouver - shawnews.vc.shawcable.net
Calgary - shawnews.cg.shawcable.net
Edmonton - shawnews.ed.shawcable.net
Victoria - shawnews.gv.shawcable.net
Interior BC - shawnews.ok.shawcable.net
Winnipeg - shawnews.wp.shawcable.net

All news servers use Port 119

got feedback?
At least some - if not all - of the listed servers do not work anymore. The Shaw website gives no results when searching for "usenet", "news groups", "newsgroups", "news server" etc. A phonecall to Shaw pointed me to "news.shawcable.net" and that works for me. On a side note, the Shaw support person was not at all familiar with newsgroups and told me, I was the first person ever to call about this.

At this time we are not sure. What we do know is that news group access does count towards your total Bandwidth Cap.

got feedback?
I think that newsgroup downloads / access do now count towards the overall bandwidth cap... This may require some investigation / testing.
