4.3 Stars Trinkets Spinners and points

Note: Information regarding stars is outdated. Stars were removed from profiles, although "levels" are still gained by contributions to the site as noted herein.

Points:
You accumulate points for frequently using DSLReports.com ... you cannot see your current points but the system stores them as "levels".

As points are accumulated you will gain levels, up, which you can see by using the "members" link in the left menu, and "capabilities".

Points are awarded for:

Team Icons: Posted by Sheesh

indicates membership of Team Discovery (United Devices)
indicates membership of Team Starfire (Seti)
indicates membership of Team Helix (Folding/Genome)

To qualify for one of the spinners shown above, you must first join that team and then go to Members/Extra and fill out Why Did I Join. You should have your team spinner by the next day.

Capabilities
If you go to the "Members" link in the menu, you will see "Capabilities" as an option. Clicking on that choice will show you your status in the levels/points progression.

You will not see anything higher than level 8 here, but when your info is viewed by others using the "I see people" feature, the level may be higher depending upon your site activity.

  • Pretty much all outdated info. Perhaps a complete rewrite is in order

There are usually three possible explanations for this:

You may have checked "show no trinkets" in your preferences. Sometimes clearing your browser's cache will resolve this problem.

If you're using ZoneAlarm or Proxomitron, check to make sure that animation is not turned off in those apps.

--
If you're just not seeing them in your posts, remember that they will only show up in longer posts -- currently by letter count. 125 letters or more, and your information is displayed. Punctuation marks and numbers don't count.
