3.3 The Printer Port

In a dos window type NET USE.
If an LPT1 port appears than you can print.

If you need to add an LTP1 port.
Type: NET USE lpt1: \\machinename\printer_share_name

You should then be able to print in dos.

(thank you FoxboroMA and Arkan )

Does the print server work under Linux? How do I set it up?

Yes, the Barricade provides Line Printer Daemon. Users of Linux have to set
up /etc/printcap and the queue name is "lp". The following is an example for
Red Hat

Linux release 5.1:
# /etc/printcap
hp6p::sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp6p::rm=192.168.123.254::rp=lp::lp=/dev/null::sh:

hp2100::sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp2100::rm=192.168.123.253::rp=lp::lp=/dev/null::sh:

Make sure you have installed the printer drivers as if the printer was connected directly to the printer.

1.Install the "PRTmate" software off of the Barricade CD-ROM.
2.Go to Control Panel and open up your Printers folder. Right click on your printer and select "Properties".
3.Select the details tab, under "Print to the following port" make sure "PRTmate" is selected.
4.Check the "Spool Settings" button to make sure that you have the "disable bi-directional support for this printer" box checked. If these options are grayed out please disregard this step.
5.Last, double check the "port settings" to see that the IP address set is the same as your Barricade (default:i92.168.123.254).
